Always nice to play in because it means you’ve won a major European trophy.
But this season of all seasons we could probably do without it as it leaves us facing a very good Liverpool team even better on the transition than United who have had two days extra rest with Chelsea still missing a number of our key players.
I’m hoping for a good performance whoever is selected and for us to be a bit tighter than we were on Sunday when we’ve conceded possession if not I fear the worst.
The best we can probably hope for is a narrow defeat another big defeat might damage moral ahead of another tricky PL game at home to Leicester on Sunday who are probably one of the teams Chelsea will be fighting it out with for a top 6 place.
The game is live on BT Sport from 7pm put your tin hats on and get comfy behind the sofa.😊
August 12, 2019 at 5:12 pm #1774135With more luck: we can beat them!! Alisson is absent. As long as we can keep Salah and their 2 wing backs quiet: we can beat them. Tammy to score against them I hope
August 12, 2019 at 6:38 pm #1774147It’s a funny old game Aindro. You just never know.😊
August 12, 2019 at 8:32 pm #1774170Even if we lose (which is obviously very likely), as long as we show more composure and discipline after going behind it would be a step in the right direction. Just another step on a very long road.
August 12, 2019 at 10:01 pm #1774185I want our front line to get some competitive goals
August 13, 2019 at 2:08 pm #1774341“Willian has handed Chelsea manager Frank Lampard a significant boost by travelling with the squad to Istanbul for Wednesday’s Uefa Super Cup against Liverpool.
The midfielder missed Sunday’s 4-0 loss at Manchester United due to his engagement with Brazil at the Copa America – a competition the hosts won by beating Peru in the final on July 7.
Willian missed that match due to a knee problem and has since been working on his rebuilding his fitness away from the first-team group in recent days.
However, he was set to train with his team-mates this afternoon in the Turkish capital with Lampard ready to recall the 31-year-old to the starting line-up if ready in light of last weekend’s chastening defeat at Old Trafford.
Antonio Rudiger is also believed to have made the journey and it remains to be seen whether Lampard also rushes the defender back ahead of schedule given the error-strewn display against United.” Evening Standard 13/08
August 13, 2019 at 2:52 pm #1774355The sooner the better, but I dont want us taking risks with anyone. The season ahead is more imortant than tomorrows game.
August 13, 2019 at 3:08 pm #1774359Willian is taking an age to return. The Copa finished 7th July and he returned about 2 weeks ago. He couldn’t have lost that much match sharpness in 2 weeks – 1 month
August 13, 2019 at 3:22 pm #1774362Frank confirms that Kante picked up another slight injury on Sunday?ðŸ˜
August 13, 2019 at 3:35 pm #1774365After Frank’s pre match press conference Willian probably on the bench he is recovering from an injury picked up at the Cops America? Rudiger probably not quite ready for that but close? Kante picked up another slight injury on Sunday likely at best to be on the bench but they’re talking tonight?
August 13, 2019 at 3:41 pm #1774371Bad news regarding Kante. We need him badly
August 13, 2019 at 5:19 pm #1774383Billy Gilmour in the Super Cup squad great potential and a wonderful experience for the lad.
August 14, 2019 at 8:38 am #1774504Liverpool 5/7 on Chelsea 9/2 against. That seems about right to me. I would take a narrow defeat and a decent performance right now if it was on offer.
“But it’s a funny old game Saint”😊
August 14, 2019 at 12:09 pm #17745735am this one. At least I get the sleep in before the nightmare. We repeat that last defensive effort and we are in all sorts. Anyway I’ll put on the positive hat and hope for the very best. 1-0 to us 🙂
August 14, 2019 at 12:59 pm #177459267, much better time for you buddie.
I hope should we lose tonight we don’t see a silly over reaction on here and people take into account the opposition and the current situation we as a Club find ourselves in.
I don’t think we will see the real Chelsea for a few months yet and until we manage to get all our key players up and running.
Try and enjoy it the pre match build up might be the best it gets.😊 Cheers 9’s
August 14, 2019 at 6:52 pm #1774646Confirmed line up and Kante starts: The EL Final line up bar the departed Luiz and Hazard.
Chelsea: Kepa, Azpilicueta, Zouma, Christensen, Emerson, Kovacic, Jorginho, Kante, Pulisic, Pedro, Giroud.
August 14, 2019 at 8:58 pm #1774685I’m surprised by the intensity of our performance tonight. we are the better team, with chance after chance created by the team. impressed by the performance of Pulsic tonight. while will go a long way from replacing Hazard, the signs are encouraging tonight. a good assist to his name and what would have been a wonderful goal denied for offside. this guy has cemented his place. also, Jorginho is doing fine so far by having Kante alongside may have lifted him. Emerson is looking classic. Azpi is doing fine although the Liverpool attack is poor equally. but I’m still nervous about Zouma. more of this in the second half please.
August 14, 2019 at 10:46 pm #1774716What a pity. Hope that Tammy will change that no 9 to another number.
August 14, 2019 at 10:48 pm #1774718Well, that was it when I saw Abraham, the Memories of Lukaku 2013 came into my mind. but once again credit to the boys. Barkley has been a waste in my opinion. he failed to impact that game.
But can’t say that I’m too disappointed with that performance tonight. it has been a good one. although I thought our defense has been a suspect once Christensen left the field. I hope he is not injured because we need him at this moment. over the Leicester on Sunday, play like that with little mistakes at the back. and we have a real chance of winning it.
August 14, 2019 at 10:55 pm #1774724Very decent performance tonight from the lads I think we were marginally the better team I’m sure the players and Frank and the Coaches will take great heart from that.
