Not the 2 most exciting teams, but the game at OT between them was good. If big games are to go by, then you have to back United. But anything can happen in a final, wouldn’t be surprised if Conte knows he is leaving and has them fired up. For Chelsea it be down to if Hazard turns up or not.
May 14, 2018 at 12:12 pm #1636278Herrera will be used to nullify Hazard again if he starts. Not going to be a classic I’d say but I think we’ll shade it if Hazard and Willian (if he plays) are kept quiet.
May 14, 2018 at 12:22 pm #16362871-0 written all over this for me. We’re not conceding many goals at the moment, despite the fact we’ve completely checked out.
Problem is that we can’t be arsed to score either! Hopefully Lukaku will be back and that will change.May 14, 2018 at 12:50 pm #1636305It all depends on whether Hazard shows up for them. If he does, then Herrera is going to have a tough time staying on the pitch, let alone keeping him quiet; all our defeats to Chelsea have come because Hazard has been up for it. If he has an off-day, they won’t be a threat up front and we’ll sneak a goal somehow and nick it.
May 14, 2018 at 2:04 pm #1636357Herrera can man mark Hazard, but for how long, it’s a huge pitch.
May 14, 2018 at 3:08 pm #1636416@mufc – more than that, he mustn’t get sent off.
May 14, 2018 at 3:09 pm #1636417True, an early booking could put that plan to bed.
May 14, 2018 at 3:16 pm #1636422Just enjoy the final lads and don’t worry too much about the details.
May 14, 2018 at 3:17 pm #16364251-0 written all over it,but for who wins it I have no idea. Both teams are rubbish.
May 14, 2018 at 4:09 pm #1636451I have to agree with the 1-0 predictions. We have shown against Chelsea already too that we can comeback if we go behind. It’ll have to go down as an upset if we lose on current form.
1-0 Sanchez to score based on his Wembley record (back up prediction is 2-1 with Lingard and Sanchez to score).
May 14, 2018 at 6:43 pm #1636514I’m going for a super cracking final, this is how it has already been played in my head
Final prediction United 3 Chelsea 2
Smalling 23′
Sanchez 39′
Valencia own goal 45′
Willian scores a freekick 65′
Hazard misses a penalty
Martial 90+3′
What a game…I’d be running back to teamtalk to see if the excitement is mutual but somehow the boys will be having a bigger fish to fry and that match would only be against “an off form Chelsea”May 14, 2018 at 7:17 pm #1636541Well at the minute you have the edge ahead of us. you are everyone’s bet to lift the trophy. and there is no shame in to losing United. i will be more concerned about the permanence of my team there. and as every said it won’t be a beautiful final. but your confidence is sky high after securing second place and your management is in place, whereas we don’t know who will be managing our club. i would love to be wrong but my mind says United will nick.
May 14, 2018 at 7:40 pm #1636550CHM-Its only on paper mate,still a very much 50-50.
May 15, 2018 at 6:56 am #1636641Its a toss up. The cagey game with the team that scores first then holding on for the win OR a more open game. There’s a big difference between a league game and a must win cup game. That Chelsea and United have been poor recently is meaningless. The player focus has been on the cup final. No player would have wanted to exert himself, risk injury in recent league games.
I’m more inclined to go for a high scoring game than a 1-0. Both sides have the players to score and the players to make defensive mistakes. I think Chelsea will want it more. I dont want to tip against United but I have doubts. I think Chelsea more likely to up their game or pull off the moments of magic than we are.
I’ll leave a score prediction to the day.
BUT since progress will be a major topic this summer. Perhaps folk should say upfront whether the result matters in terms of their evaluation of the season and club progress. For me, it won’t make a difference. If we win, I wont see it as meaningful and if we lose it will negate the argument of those who use last seasons cup wins as evidence of progress.
May 15, 2018 at 12:14 pm #1636809Yes of course it matters when evaluating the season. Every season, always win a trophy no matter what was one of Fergie’s big mantras. If its good enough for him its good enough for me and even though its not good enough for you its what I want to see.
May 15, 2018 at 12:44 pm #1636839The league is your bread and butter, followed by the CL and then the FA Cup (sadly, some might say).
The league – Came 2nd but not even a challenging 2nd so I would say fail.
CL – Knocked out by Sevilla FFS so fail.
FA Cup – Made the final so success.Bottom line though is we failed in our main 2 objectives so an FA Cup win will just paper over the cracks.
May 15, 2018 at 3:34 pm #1636935If Chelsea win – and I hope not – what are the odds on John Terry rushing all the way from Birmingham to take part in the trophy celebrations?
May 15, 2018 at 4:30 pm #1636947Just hope it’s a decent final but I’m not convinced it will be. United are presumably favourites and I would expect them to win if Mourinho unshackles them a bit… but I have a feeling he won’t do that.
May 15, 2018 at 6:20 pm #1636972Tommy-You are 50? From reading your posts I would have said no more than a 18 yrs young teenage twat, lol.
