Haha. Not one for understatement this guy.
Seems to me that the number one barrier to Brexit is that the country only just voted for it. In reality the country is split, and parliament reflects that. No point in crying your arse off about politicians having a hidden agenda when imho the reality is that they are just as split on this thing as the man in the street, and for good reason.
And no point in hard line Brexiteers crying about the result of a referendum in 2016. It hasn’t happened for one reason or another, and as such the current electorate should, in the name of democracy, be again asked again.
Three years (and possibly longer) is too long a period to embark on such a contentious new direction, and especially so when the likely form of Brexit is not going to resemble even closely the promises made by the Leave campaign. It’s ridiculous to consider ending up with a Brexit deal that ties the UK to all sorts of European rules yet gives us no voice in Europe.
And for what it’s worth, if this most divisive of issues renders peace and safety in Ireland at risk then in my opinion it’s not worth it.
