Sorry, but simply not good enough:
    Palmer, 7 TGH,6, Townsend,6, O’Shea,6, Kelly,6,
    Molumby,5, Yokuslu,4, Diangana,7, Wallace,5, Swift,3, Grant,3

    Subs: Livermore,5, Rogic (Fish Out Of Water),2, Phillips,3, Thomas-Asante,4

    SB & Co, 2

    Further thoughts:
Bruce is clearly not great tactically and doesn’t seem to have a plan B or C ….. other than just throw people on and hope it somehow magically improves. That said the players need to look at themselves. Some are working hard, others are coasting.
I think he was right to bring in Palmer. TGH should probably be in the side, but not convinced he’s great at full back. Perhaps Pieters should’ve kept his place.
Clearly his plan A was always about Dike and we still play as if he’s in the team. We certainly get in loads of crosses, but it’s a waste of time with Grant, who is never sharp enough in the box. Swift and Yokuslu are big disappointments so far. Yokuslu looked so much better when we were in the Prem, but looks unsuited to this league.
It’s not rocket science to know that playing for months without a proper number 9 is at the root of most of the problems. A proper number 9 would thrive with Swift, Wallace & Diangana and in turn he would help them. Not having good cover for Dike has been disastrous. HRK was right to criticize the investment.
Thomas-Asante will put in a shift, but he’s still a work in progress.

I think that you’ve pretty much nailed it finger. The matches I’ve seen when Yokuslu played showed that he’s better when he has time to think about his pass. Of course in the Prem he had a decent set around him not the crap we have now. BTA is a work in progress but I’d still rather have him than Mr Anonymous Grant! Palmer could do nothing about the goal but otherwise he looked much better than Button (and SJ come to that). O’Shea is only as good as his CB partner. He does well with Ajayi but only average otherwise. We let Andy Carroll go but I wonder what he’d do with the crosses from Wallace and Diangana? More than Grant I suspect. I watched the Cardiff v Blackburn match on Tuesday night. MOTM was Kipre who was (mostly) solid in defence and Robinson laid on the only goal and should have scored himself. Sawyers did well too.

Yes I saw a bit of that and Kipre was a tower of strength. Letting both Kipre and Taylor go out on loan was a great mistake as the inadequate Bartley was our only CB cover. And Okay was certainly a different player in a midfield that included Gallagher, Maitland-Niles and of course Pereira. Grant is generally a waste of space, not much more effective than Zohore. To me the biggest disappointment is Swift who came with many plaudits but has been utterly ineffective.
Perhaps a lot of the perceived weaknesses of the players are due to Bruce who in a field of strong contestants is perhaps our worst nanager ever, certainly in terms of results. He seems to have no overall plan and the only reason he’s still in a job must be that the club can’t afford to sack him. I feel that they can’t afford NOT to sack him as if we keep him, a relegation battle is the cards, a relegation battle that we shall probably lose.

The mention of Andy Carroll is interesting. I’ve never been a big fan, but he worked his socks off when with us last season and would’ve been useful now given the Dike injury, but I guess we couldn’t afford him without getting Zohore off the books.

Grant is obviously not a number 9, but is mostly lacking the right mentality. Perhaps he needs to spend a week training with Pep and Haaland to remind him what the job actually requires.
