Who can honestly see a favourable result for us? For all the hype around Alli and Kane, which has been well deserved, I have little faith that we have a midfield strong enough or fast enough to contain the likes of Eriksson, Dembele, Lamela et al. Mason is a workhorse and a silent danger. I hope not, but I can see Fellaini starting which, as we all know, will give Spurs more free kick opportunities than enough. Rose and Dier have been a revelation and I think we will come unstuck. I hope the kids are amongst the starters as they will be our best attacking prospects. I would prefer Varela at RB with CS and TF-M in centre and Blind on the left. MS, AH and JM in centre with MD on the right, MArtial coming in from the left and Rashford as CF. Thoughts?

For all of lvg flaws one good thing is his record vs the top half team are decent and make no mistake Spurs are playing like a top team this season. This is the progress Poch has made in the same period of Lvg two years. I think we will get a draw but spurs will be up for this as they need a win to keep their title hope.

Yeah it will be a tough game. But, as Ackb050 says, we’re actually ok at getting results against the good teams. So fingers crossed.

I think Spurs will cause us a lot of problems. I can’t see us getting anything against the likes of Dembele in midfield and Alli just ahead of him. I’ll be happily proven wrong though. We cannot afford to have Fellaini in the midfield as we’ll just get rings run around us.

We are usually good against the better sides because they don’t sit back and defend but we played Spurs on the opening day and won via an own goal. Since then Spurs have got considerably stronger.

I think it’s a big ask for us to get a win against Spurs. We can definitely manage a draw as LVG has our defence playing well. I don’t know if we have the attacking nous to break through Alderweireld and Vertonghen as well as Lloris. A draw is the best we can hope for I think

If Spurs start well, like Arsenal did at the Emirates, then it could be all over after 30 mins.

We need to soak up the pressure and hit them on the counter. We need pace up top and we need to be clinical with our finishing.

Spurs will get nervous the longer it stays at nil nil.

I actually think we will do ok against spurs, they are not a special team and the way people are talking about them I almost thought we are playing barcelona. Won’t be an end to end game, 1-1

I’m with fatrooney here. We are strong against stronger teams and we actually don’t have as much pressure on us as Spurs. This will be a tight game.

As long as our missing stars are back then there should be no problem. I think SAF said last week any team in the country would struggle to cope with out the likes of Phil Jones, Tony Valencia and Ashley Young. Great news for us that they are now back

well those 3 dont inspire fear in the opposition of they are back!
but you guys do have a very good record against Spurs was a guaranteed 6 pointer every season (bugged the hell out of me as usually helped stop us) so who knows but now the 2 teams/managers are so different maybe history is less of a factor

Whoever starts has to be energetic for the majority of the game in order to match their workrate and pressing. We can’t have any carthorses who ain’t mobile as they tend to press all over the pitch.

Spurs have to go for the win – anything less than that for them means that Leicester will win the title within the next few weeks.

So an all out attacking display from Spurs will leave the door open for UTD’s forwards to exploit the gaps.

I’m confident of a good UTD performance and a 2-2 result.

I’m sorry, but confident… of a draw, is not confident. Spurs are a very good side but as somebody mentioned here yesterday, they are not Barcelona. They need the win meaning they need to attack. Rashford, Martial and Lingard will be more than dangerous enough on the counter and we do actually have a decent defence now. I predict 3 – 1 United.

As long as we don’t have a three point deficit increase between us and City by the end of the week, any result is a good one. Even if we lose, if City fail to beat WBA at home it will actually still be a good weekend for us, given their recent result at PSG (which will give them a boost) and the fact that its a home game against a weaker opposition that they would fail to win.

We need to respect the fact that Spurs are in 2nd place and chasing for the league whilst we are battling for 5th – if the roles were reversed all of us would say that we should be winning this home match, so let’s hope the team goes down knowing they’re playing a tough, yet beatable, team.

On the plus side, should we win and Arsenal lost at West Ham we will only be two points off them. We both have similar run-ins (ours is slightly more difficult) however there is Arsenal vs Man City which means that points will undoubtedly be dropped between those two. I wouldn’t be overly surprised if Arsenal are the team to drop out of the Top Four (though I unfortunately still think it will be us).
