Maybe AMN out is all I can think of those that may go? Looks like We are after Douglas Luiz. In terms of numbers I agree but just not convinced he is what we need. Would we be after him had Elneny not got injured? Him and Tielemans are not real Partey alternatives and both are free next year or half the price in Jan. I would have just kept AMN for one more year. I would get Luiz over Tielemans as at least he can play the holding midfielder role. I am not keen on this last min .com and although I want one in I just don’t want to buy just for the sake of it someone who has no real future in the club. If these are our only options then won’t be gutted if we get neither.

No we are giving Bellerin away to Barca just as with Auba who apparently now is worth money I thought he said there was no chance to sell a player on a high salary. Go figure.

The two of them are clueless prats If Elneny hadn’t been injured and he’s so average, we’d have still have been chasing a winger!

I hold Mikel AND Edu directly responsible for any failure this season.
Mikel is a fanatastic coach, the best we’ll get out of all the avaialble ones out there. He has proved he can get the absolute best out of the players he has.The problem with him is he’s an extremely naive coach,an amateur. The management of the squad ever since he’s come in has been atrocious. He makes Auba the captain, then drops him after two disciplinary breaches. His partnet in crime Edu can’t move him on because of his wages.Fast forward to next season,he’s top scorer for barca and is virtually being sold for 20-25m to Chelsea. As xavi says – A gift from heaven. Then are you telling me you can’t find a buyer for a 72m player? We can’t even rucuperate 25-30m in today’s market where morgan gibbs white is moving for 44.5m?

This has nothing to do with the markey,It is utter incompetency from Edu.A person, who is merely a good speaker in fooling the club and the fans.He was merely a media relations manager for brazil and then gets promoted to a technical director? On what basis?

Putting in three bigs for Luiz reeks of desperation.I don’t care if he joins or no.
People are oblivious to the fact we need wingers.

Don’t worry, those who are contempt with the squad are going to be proven wrong. It is the most fragile squad I’ve ever seen from a team who’s top after five games.

I can’t wait for some unambitious fans with low ambitiions to blame it on injuries later on.Our squad is SHIT.

    Sorry,Great coach.Naive manager I meant.Typo!
And a fan with low standards will blame it on injuries, yet again.I meant that before the grammar police is on here.Typed the post in anger with the lack of business.I was expecting a midfielder and winger minimum and even then I’d give this club a 30% chance to make top four. But now I give us a zero% chance.

Because this is Jan transfer window all over again.Utter ignorance and negligence.

Why let AMN go when we are short in midfield? And we have not signed any one. It just does not make sense? Matt smith looks ok but if mik fancied him he would have given him some game time. If we really want Luiz an Tielemans we can get on Jan for half the price or next year for free. I am not 100% convinced by either so although we need one I am not sure these two fit the bill.

Well i think they did not want to pay that much for players with one year left. Also we only need to get through from here to 12th of Nov after the next game is on the 26th of Dec. Its a gamble no doubt since both Partey/Elneny are out now. My guess is they would have signed someone if it was no WC in the middle. But who knows clearly they get us to 85% and then stop for the second window in a row.

Why not get a loan in like Liverpool and Chelsea did? Surely a few million for a loan fee would have been worth it. Seems like we put all our eggs in one basket two windows in a row and it could cost us again.

It will cost us. Arteta and Edu are arrogant clueless individuals. Yet again they are gambling on a young squad that is short on both numbers and quality, especially in midfield. This has been obvious for over a year now.If we yet again miss out on Top four which is our only target they both will be sacked and deservedly so. This lack of ambition should stop our stars like Saka from extending their contracts. Utter shambles yet again from Diet Pep and gormless Edu.

Boys we should be positive after the start we have had. It’s been great to watch and we have had the results. The midfield for me was always a priorty and now it’s even worse. On top of that we have 9 games in October and only 2 fit centre mids. I am worried and will just be praying Partey is short term or Matt smith is a worldly!!!!

We will see in beginning of October when we have 13 games in 6 weeks to play If it was the right choice or not. We cant afford injuries for sure.

Stev, of course all are positive and rightly so. What has that got to do with the crass and constant ineptitude displayed by Arteta and Edu? Their combined stupidity in squad assembly and management undermines everything. Have you seen who we play in the next two months? If anyone thinks the players left in central midfield can cope with those matches, let alone this Sunday at Old Toiket, then they are as idiotic as the management duo. Another last minute trolley dash ends in failure. By the way why did we spunk a totally unnecessary £30m on that reserve Vieira?

Jeff it’s just you don’t sound positive and an inept idiotic due have done ok so far ! We are short especially in midfield and I don’t think they don’t know that. Just keep your fingers crossed we can get the players back asap.

In reality we don’t need a backup for Partey but a replacement. He is injured too often and has the ACON. Bissouma would really have helped, even though Partey is better transitioning play from midfield to attack.

Stev- “keep our fingers crossed”- God Almighty what are you smoking? The same stuff that Arteta and Edu are on! It’s unacceptable and utterly negligent and they are an idotic duo, or can’t you separate 5 wins on the spin to what we have available in midfield for the next few weeks? It’s pathetic excuses like that there was “no-one available or they don’t see the need for back-up” that says it all. Next, you’ll be saying let’s see what happens in January…..Who gets top four after five matches? This nonsensical behaviour is symptomatic of Arteta and Edu. One might be good at coaching, but has zero idea how to assemble a balanced squad for a season and the other is a gormless wannabe technical director who usually, can only consider purchasing Brazilian or Portuguese speaking players. Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s on some bung from the Brazil FA. How did Chelsea and Liverpool manage last-day loans for defensive midfielders? Now we find out from our prat of a manager that City had inserted a clause that allows them a percentage of any sell-on value for Luiz, hence the higher than expected sale price Villa insisted on. Only a clueless club would find this out at the 11th hour. Had they considered Luiz before yesterday- no.

have to admit i’m a bit pissed off with the club for leaving
it to the last day of the window to get a midfield player in
when it should have been priority no2 after a striker this
summer.can’t believe that villa turned down 25m for a player
with 8 months left on his contract but it showed our
desperation when we may’be should have gone for luiz a week
or two ago.i personally think it’s gonna cost us this season
and knowing partey only plays 58% of games just shows that
there’s still that negligence and naivety at the club and
in truth arteta should know better given he was a central
midfield player himself.if fans could already see this scenario
this season then why didn’t club prioritise a central
midfield player after signing jesus.i honestly don’t get
it and now we rely on a young inexperienced player in
lokonga going to what is one of the worst grounds we perform
at trying to get a result.why is it we’re always short
and that saying is true, control and dominate midfield
and you having cutting edge up front you will win 9/10
games.liverpool were pro active getting melo and we put
all our eggs in luiz and i was listening to jim white who
got it from good authority from villa that they would
100% sell luiz and he was right.why didn’t we move on
and go for tielemans i’ll never know.arteta and edu still
have a lot to learn that’s for sure.both ex midfield
player as well makes it more shocking.

Arsenal managers are generally utterly clueless when it comes to who to buy/ sell in transfer windows. Wenger was no different. In January 2003, he sold the then good Matthew Upson to Birmingham for £1m, citing the player’s need “for first team football” and that he’d been a model pro. What about the needs of the team, which should come first?! Sol Campbell was shown a red card for a non-existent elbow on OGS against Utd and then banned for the rest of the seqson. That left us with the brilliant Luzhny and Cygan to deputise for three games. Result we threw away the title to United after having been eight points ahead in March.

Arteta/Edu threw away Top 4 last season by sitting on their hands in January and not replacing all those players sent out on loan. Arteta has not learned. Now, he’s expecting a kid, Lokonga, to hold the fort for a while by not getting a replcements midfielder in and not trying until yesterday- pathetic and shambolic behaviour by both.

Jeff you are beginning to sound like that numpty using a bad signing to say they were shite is like me saying because he signed Martineli he is great ! As for Wenger he signed our greatest ever player amongst his many great signings which out weight the shite. You are going OTT as I said I agree and have said since last year we needed another DM and that should have been our priorty. Arteta obviously does not agree.

“There was no one available” 😂😂😂

I can name 10 options, just at the back of my head that would’ve cost from considerably little to nothing that can come in and improve this squad.

We had Tielemans,Gueye,Douglas luiz,Bissouma etc all as options at the beggining of the window and we left it till the last day at the hands of incompetent personel who were always going to dissapoint.I am absolutely against overpaying for players, but when you lack the execution of a plan A,B,C then you can’t expect anything else.

    In wingers,We could’ve easily bought sanchez(Free),Gakpo,Depay(Free),Zaha,Richarlison.

There is no plan,No strategy. And for any delusional fan defending the indefensible,I almost feel sad as you don’t know what’s about to happen to this club.

I even have less respect for those saying we’ve won 5 in 5.All these games were easily winnable games(Apart from palace which was not easy but certainly achievable).

Our first real test starts at Old toilet where we have a terrible record and have gone onto lost games against their reserves team even.

    Let’s see how we fare…
