Dreadful journey for the players over 2,000 miles in Southern Russia makes you wonder whether we could leave a few behind in London with the Burnley game to come at 3pm on Saturday 31/10?

Players like Giroud, Odio, Kovacic, Tomori should start this game, they probably already frustrated they not even on the bench and also keeps the others on their toes. None of our forwards have been too great so far this season.

I really don’t think we should underestimate Krasnodar. But yes CHO, Abraham, should get opportunities. I would keep the same backline: James, Azpi, Thiago, Zouma, Chilwell. We need our defense to gel and two clean sheets are pretty encouraging.

I don’t have any idea about the opponent. But we have to win this match.

Lampards tactical selection against united was spot on though like many other fans would have preferred Kovacic instead of Jorginho but yes he needs to rotate for various reasons so hopefully the likes of Odio, Kovacic, Giroud, etc will start not underestimating the opponents but these players need to play or start at some point in time.

Pat Nevin has tipped Frank Lampard to recall Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic for Chelsea’s Champions League clash against Krasnodar.?

Sounds about right to me. I would also like to see Silva rested with the Burnley game in mind and bring Tomori in.

Yes 9 plus Odio if I remember correctly he did quite well last time he came on and you can bet his not happy at all not playing.

I would definitely rest, Silva, Chilwell, Kante, Azpi, Zouma, Havertz and Werner. the rest is fine for me if they start, I would also rest Jorginho because of his physical weakness and Frank’s persistence to play him every game. my preferred team here is 4-3-3,
Mendy, Reece James, Tomori, Christensen, Emerson, Mount, Kovacic, Ziyech, Hudson Odoi, Abraham, Pulisic.

I really want our defense to gel and provide us with more clean sheet, hence my argument to keep the same defense. Probably there may be switch from back 4 or back 3 with 2 wing backs, but I would like to see Azpi,James,Thiago,Zouma and Chilwell form a solid unit. Like before with Ivanovic,Cahill,Terry,Cole, the same backline for several seasons. That’s my strategy for this match: keep the defense that worked well in the last 2 matches and shuffle the attack that did NOT work well in the last 2 matches.

I agree with your philosophy re the defence Aindro but I don’t think Thiago can play in every game and his game time will need to be managed indeed Frank said that last week. It’s a shame but seems sensible to me.

Thiago certainly won’t play tonight as per my post above he’s not in the Chelsea squad that has travelled to Krasnodar which hopefully keeps him fresh for Burnley away on Saturday.

“With Thiago I decided and we decided, because I speak with Thiago a lot, with the game that we played at the weekend, the journey here [to Russia] and the travel back, we arrive very late back into London on Thursday morning and then we play three games over the next week, we made a choice to protect Thiago.

‘We have other centre-backs in the team so it is not hopefully to make us weaker. Someone else gets an opportunity and hopefully takes it.” Frank Lampard

Not a vintage performance, but overall a solid performance. Winning 4-0 away in the CL, is actually quite good, no matter who we’re facing. Another clean sheet …. who said we can’t defend. 10 games so far this season with 10 goals conceded. Not too bad

Good win 4 nil and 3 consecutive clean sheets.

Mendy has added confidence to the defence.

Decent full debut for Ziyech he’s going to be a player for us.

We missed Silva’s distribution from the back bur Rudiger came in and was solid.

Great to see fans in the Stadium again didn’t look like there was too much social distancing going on though.

    Good to see Roman there.

Did not see the match as it was very early here 2PM. Will see the highlight tonite. But a clean sheet. Whaaaattt ……. a clean sheet, which was rare for quite long time for us. And a common factor: goalkeeping !!

Good win even though it was a bit flattering but now I understand why we were looking for a midfield enforcer while Kante, Kovacic and Jorginho may have their individual merits they are not dominant enough in the midfield. It’s been like that in every game. Reece can also play in that area don’t really know the answer. Have to say though Mendy is an excellent buy except for his passing but I find that fault with all keepers for some reason, their passing is way too dangerous even everyone on other sites are also mentioning that especially the Chelsea forum on Facebook.

I think it has to be taken into account traveling all that way is a bit of a downer so it’s a very good result away from home even though as the commentators pointed out it was flattering. I must admit I am a bit worried as well about our lack of chances at goals compared to other teams and I think our shooting does not seem to be either too accurate or hard enough which gives that impression. I assume they do practice shooting. Maybe I’m also confused! I kept thinking the team in the pink kit was the opposition and everytime the opposition got the ball I had to remind myself it’s not Chelsea in the darker kit.

I think the pink kit is not that bad. Would have liked it to be yellow though (with similar design), I remember Zola wearing the yellow kit. But we have to be innovative and creative, don’t we? Just watched the highlights, Krasnodar did create chances, Mendy saved one, narrowly deflected one, and hit the bar one. And CHO’s goal is a bit fortuitous, a GK error from their side and we did not score again until late. About goalkeeping, so far Mendy started for us: took 1 goal against Spurs (which was really impossible for him to prevent) and 3 clean sheets. I think we’ve improved a lot compared to when Kepa or Caballero started. Had Mendy started against Southampton, we wouldn’t have lost :(. 2 lost points that match. The jury is still out for him (and for Thiago, Chilwell, for our defense in general) but the clean sheets are really encouraging and it’s a sign of improvement.

Aindro, your post reminded as to how very difficult it is to follow Chelsea from afar good on you and the other lads on here like Chelsea 1967 etc who go to such great lengths to follow the Club from various corners of the world and credit to you all too for being so on point re all of Chelsea’s problems and opportunities too.

Cheers nine! Honestly not too bad here. League matches saturday or sunday morning 10 AM normally and UCL matches normally tue or wed 3 PM. If I can finish work early I still get 2nd half UCL matches. I think it’s more chelsea1967 and those who live in Oz or NZ, for whom it’s more difficult to watch Chelsea live as it’s really early AM there.

I’ve lived in 3 continents and my experience is that ironically it’s in Europe (but not in England) where it was the most difficult for me to watch Chelsea (or English football in general). Local and cable TVs only broadcasted local league matches (UCL broadcasted their teams mainly) and internet back then wasn’t as like now.

    Good on you Aindro.

Must be difficult to keep your mind on the job whilst Chelsea are playing in the CL though.😊

I think you’re right Chelsea 1967 and all our Aussie fans probably have it the toughest following Chelsea because of the disparity on the time zones.

It’s great to see you all on here though expressing your views as well as you all do. Cheers 9’s
