7 point gap at the top between 3rd and 4th depending on what Arsenal do. The elite are pulling away as long as the current scorelines hold.

Marcos has done a job too. Supporters love to under estimate his efforts.

He getting close to full sharpness now 67 fair play to him.

We rode our luck, recently we dropped points to utd and Burnley in games we played very well in and absolutely dominated. Today we were completely off the pace and even outplayed for large periods but got the 3 points.

We need to to be miles better vs West ham on weekend otherwise come Sunday evening we be 3rd.

On Sunday Tuchel was happy with the performance but not the result it will be the reverse tonight.

We dug that win out but the changes a number enforced and over a period of time too has unsettled the fluidity of the team especially in central midfield.

No good crying about injuries and overall we’ve coped with them well hopefully one or two will be back and available v West Ham they’ll be more than needed for that game.

“The boss made no excuses in his assessment of our 2-1 win over Watford, but either way he will leave with a quiet satisfaction his team still found a way to emerge victorious despite falling well short of our usual high standards.

‘We were very sloppy,’ said Tuchel.

‘It was a very unusual performance from us. We were not ready. I’m involved in that, I have to get the team ready and prepare them for what’s coming. For the first time we were completely underperforming as a team. We did not cope well with the first balls, the pressure, the second balls.

‘It’s one thing to win or lose challenges, but we did not even find them. We had the chance to speak about it in the break, and again at half-time. We tried to give easy messages because it was obvious we struggled in the build-up. We needed to do the basics better and change the mentality.

‘We tried. I don’t think I was too critical with the players, just analytical. We are also critical with ourselves. We can admit we were lucky to win this game. I won’t focus long on this match because we play again on Saturday.

‘There are some reasons it wasn’t easy. Watford played with a lot of enthusiasm and we struggled with the basics. We are in this together and we got a lucky win today. We stole three points.’

Saul started his second Premier League game and for a second time was withdrawn at half-time. He was among a number of Blues who had struggled to get to grips with Watford’s front-foot approach in the opening 45 minutes, and Tuchel explained why he came off.

‘He was on a yellow card. We had two options, [the other was to] take Marcos off and put Saul as a wing-back. I had this in my mind before the game if something happened to Marcos, but it wasn’t the right match to try new positions.

‘It was him [who went off] to change the shape a little bit and have Thiago on the pitch with the quality of organising, and Trevoh in the six who is more physical. Unfortunately Trevoh injured himself so we ended up with Ruben in the single six. It was a tactical decision and we go on from here.”

Lucky, your fears re a possible red were clearly also Thomas’s. I reckon without that break after 10 minutes (and I hope that the supporter is OK), that game would have unfolded with disastrous results. That break was vital to our ultimate success. Without a break and some serious hair dryer work or soul searching or both, we were going to be beaten.

We were lucky this time. Watford looked good and were unlucky not to get a draw . Thiago Silva brought back stability at the backline. Chalobah, looked like hamstring unfortunately. 3 points are good but we can’t keep playing like this. I wonder when Lukaku will be ready to start? Is he fit or is he not?

Hopefully Jorginho & Kanté or Kovacic will be available for the next match.

“3 points are good but we can’t keep playing like this.”

We were awful Aindro but I can’t remember us playing that badly for a while and the injuries and the 6 changes didn’t help.

Kovacic will be bought back slowly after his hamstring injury he can’t just be thrown in as a starter or he could go back to square one hopefully Jorginho and Kante will be available for Saturday they were both badly missed last night.

Taking 3 points from a game like that is a positive imo sometimes you have to dig a win out in games like that and somehow we did.

We will need a much better performance v West Ham from a more settled team.

Take into account all the key players that are injured plus Watford are not a bad team despite their league position its a good result. They just beat United 4-1. Most players should be coming back from injury in the next couple of days, one player that must definitely be sent back is Nigel Saul or whatever his name is, a total waste of space and time, why must we have so many good players on the bench to accommodate him, even with all the injuries there are other options.

I am a worried about December. This was where Frank fell last season. This is Tuchel’s first December in Premier League; he would have to learn as there are so many fixtures for a team like Chelsea and there is no winter break at all. We won yesterday but it was just the beginning. Grueling fixtures will come, we’ll play twice a week until the end of the year and we already have so many players injured.

I hope the returning players like Lukaku will be ready to start some time soon as he hasn’t started yet even though he has already been coming from the bench several times. Jorginho & Werner were on the bench yesterday, so I suppose their injury isn’t that bad. We badly missed Jorginho, Kante, Kovacic yesterday. It’s starting to be clear that Saul needs more time to adapt. Probably next time it would be better to play Ross Barkley instead of Saul. Good thing is Havertz IMO played well, Mount played well, Ziyech played well when he came in.

Aindro, I am worried about December too but it’s a completely different situation than last year we didn’t have 10 wins out of first 14 under lamps, pooland city under performed and even spurs were top at one point.

I think tuchel us doing well to balance gge selections dealing with the injuries we have and while we scraped by yesterday hopefully we feel benefit of the rotation in the weekend.

    Read this on skysports.com earlier

“Winning having not played well: the sign of champions? It depends which way you look at it,

On the one hand, Manchester City and Liverpool look mesmerising, and this feels like another 90+ point season where playing badly isn’t tolerated. On the other hand, Chelsea haven’t fielded their best XI for a number of weeks and still sit top.”

Our form last year pre December under lamps wouldn’t have got us anywhere near first this season, as the above concurs, despite all the changes required week in week out we still sit 1st. Might not finish 1st as imo it’s odds on city overtake us, but we giving it a bloody good go aindro

I like Tuchel being honest enough to say we were very poor.

We did improve in the second half (Silva’s influence?) and I thought Havertz and Mount played well. There are only a couple of days before WHU so I doubt many of the injured will be back by then. The ineffectiveness of Saul was one of the main reasons for our dismal first half as we were swamped in midfield, Barclay would have been a better choice, if needed he should start the next game with Loftus-Cheek playing deeper.

Given the injury situation and the glut of December fixtures I would be inclined to send a squad side on the long trip to Russia next week, leaving players like Kante and Silva at home resting. It is not worth further stressing our best players to improve our chances of winning the group.

Given that Jorginho was on the bench but not risked hopefully he should be ok for the West Ham game we could do with a few more back by Saturday for what will be a tough game. Let’s hope for a bit more good news on the injury front going forwards.🤞

There’s no point in rushing injured players back though too soon they have to be nursed back in slowly otherwise they will aggravate the injury further and be out for even longer.

We are where we are and we just have to make the best of what we have left fit and well in the squad.

luckydestiny: I don’t remember where exactly we were on the table last December with Lampard, but I remember we weren’t that bad either. It’s Desember slump that cost Lampard his job. And if I’m not mistaken, with Sarri we were pretty good before December on the table but then after that we slumped. What we saw yesterday is alarming for me. We played badly even though we won.

nine: I think with Chalobah injured, we need Jorginho or Kante badly. Chalobah did a good job yesterday in midfield before being substituted. But Saul probably I wouldn’t start him anymore. I was really mistaken, I thought he could take Premier League easily with his extensive experience.

Aindro, Saul is not the player I watched in La Liga be amazed if he can turn it around at Chelsea from here.

Let’s be fair though Aindro we were missing , Chilwell, James, two of three from Jorginho, Kante and Kovacic and Lukaku is still not fit enough to start strip out 5/6 starters from any top side eg Liverpool (look what happened to them last season due to injuries) and they will struggle for the form they showed with them in the team.

Credit to Tuchel his Coaches and the squad with so far 33 points after 14 games if we maintained that level it would give us an 89 point finish.

Last season City won the title with 86 points.

If we could maintain the current level of points although it might not be enough to win the PL title this season we would still be very close.
