Not sure what he expects when the same idiots using VAR are the same idiots that make VAR needed in the first place because they are useless referees

technology can;t fix it because it is still reliant on humans to make a judgment call.
In my view, it is utterly pointless and just takes away all the entertainment out of the game.
If VAR isn’t going to overrule the Matip coathangering against Toon or Stones’ blatant handball against Norwich overnight then what is the bloody point????

It should go the way of American Football where there is a pitch side viewer for the referee to use. He then makes the call and can use outside help if he needs clarification on the rules.
Either way there will still be people who aren’t happy, rightly or wrongly, with the decision made for a number of reasons:
    1. They have their club blinkers on
    2. They don’t know the rules or the rules they know have been changed/updated
    3. The ref still made a bollix of it and the person is rightly indignant.

It only seems to be being used to cancel goals because a forward was a centimetre offside. Not for cockups on penalties or other stuff that’s actually important. But fundamentally, if we have to have it because referees are no good, what is the point of having another useless ref to review it? Why not have someone who has actually played the game and understands football, not just the laws of football?

Because then the pedantic fuckers will say that VAR is not working because they’re not sticking strictly to the rules.
You (and I mean you in a general sense, not you specifically Kingo) can either have VAR and all that comes with it, or you get rid of it and shut up about bad reffing because you can’t have it both ways.

So no third option then, of having var but doing it right?

You could do it right as you put it but then, as stated, the pedants will complain that the rules aren’t being adhered to correctly. Therefore, there is no third option really. It’s an all or nothing scenario

Probably the first weekend when VAR was used to iverturn decisions, and plenty got overturned. It looks like the powers that be decided to give it a go re-reffing the decisions. I think a few were incorrect (James’ penalty and the Arsenal disallowed goal, also the rugby tackle in the Arsenal match on Zaha, and teh Norwich goalkeeper coming way off his line for both penalties), but at least they are now happy to overturn decisions. They got a few correct too (Cantwell handball and Zaha penalty for example).

No idea why the ref doesn’t check the monitor though, small steps I guess.

Anyone spot any correct var calls yesterday? Hilarious that they gave Delafeu a pen yesterday but not the one against Spurs. Twats.

alfie, its just stupid… VAR is being used to back the ref instead of actually making the right call when needed…
