This is massive. It’s a chance for us to win for the first time this season against a top 6 contender this season. Spurs aren’t in an ideal situation due to Kane’s injury, but they are still a massive step up from Wolves or Burnley. Hope Tuchel will bring us victorious against Spurs and if so, he will surely start to getting more and more supports from fans all over the world who are still ‘mourning’ the sacking of our legend Lampard.

Will be tough. I’m assuming Kane is injured and that is a big plus. Son the main danger so controlling him will go a long way to a positive result. Probably be happy with a draw away. Not sure we can refer to it as 3 Point Lane any more.

Yes I am still sad about Lampard, problem is really they were too early in appointing him, you can’t go from Derby only and then to Chelsea one of the world’s biggest clubs. Anyway life goes on I hope.

Chelsea1967, I am really hoping we’ll get more than a draw. We need to break this hoodoo this season that we haven’t won against any top sides. 2 games with Tuchel look very promising. But same with Lampard before December, it looked very promising before the downfall. I reckon Mou (as usual) will defend deep and counter us. So our defenders must stay aware. I won’t play Werner until he recovers his confidence. My team: Mendy – Azpi, Thiago, Rüdiger – CHO, Kanté, Kovacic, Alonso – Mount, Giroud, Ziyech

True, Spurs are a step up from Wolves and Burnley, but they will probably play in a similar way – park the bus and try to hit us on the break. I think we’ll keep the same formation but maybe change a few personnel. Here’s hoping for the win!

Yeah I agree with Aindro’s team too although I could still see Tuchel causing a suprise or two with his selections even his tactics?

Love a win but a point would still be a decent result for us I’m not too bothered by all the fuss about not beating a top 6 side beating Sheffield United is still worth the same 3 points as beating a top 6 side.

Still be nice to get that monkey off our back though which probably wouldn’t still be there had the Referee made the right call for the assault on Azpi at OT.

Tuchel confirms that both Zouma and Havertz could be doubtful for Spurs game having picked up slight injuries in training.

I don’t see any pride in beating Spurs and I have to say they are beatable if we take our chances. however, I would love us to beat Mourinho, and what always costs us will cost us and that will be the number of chances we squander in every game. if Tuchel can fix that, then we will stand a very good chance in walking with the three points. we need to be as clinical as we should be to take the chances because Mourinho will play 8-1-1 formation. and will try to hit us on the break. so we need physical players Kante will be one, I would even be tempted to play Reece James next Kante to give us midfield bite, and I would play four at the back but still play Alonso on the left-wing and Hodson Odoi on the right-wing. and play Ziyech in the no 10 role. here is my preferred team. formation 4-2-3-1, Mendy, Azpi-Silva-Rudiger-Chilwell, Kante-Reece James, Hodson Odoi- Ziyech – Alonso, Abraham. yes, Alonso can play as a winger and still be good enough to score and help Chilwell occasionally. and Reece James has played in midfield before and has excelled. so he can give the physical aspect in midfield which Jorginho lacks.

Tuchel did say he would rotate but for this game I suspect he may chose what he perceives to be his strongest team though what in heavens name the strongest team may be I don’t believe anyone still knows.

I have been supporting Chelsea since the late sixties.
I have an idea the rivalry started from the 1967 FA cup final and then escalated the 74/75 season when we got relegated.
    Does anyone else know why?

    Mourinho started his mind games!

Aindro good selection, but still concerned about Ziyech. Great attacking threat, but chasing back for defensive duties, has to do more for me.

lets hope for a win tonight!

Interesting that Tuchel has picked Werner for this game despite his form of late. It is a massive shot in the arm for Werner and I really hope he grabs this final chance because I don’t know how many more Tuchel will afford for him after tonight.

Interesting also that James has been deployed at RWB and Alonso at LWB, but I still feel Chilwell is the better option. while both are good going forward, Chilwell will give us defensive assurance.

Good to see James back in the right wing back role as he will be stronger than CHO defensively with CHO moving forwards

James was fantastic nine and answers the question in the other thread re CHO at RWB against better teams.

Tuchel is very pragmatic and the football is good to watch too, very promising mate, what’s your thoughts so far?

Great performance from the team and the credit goes to Tuchel for how he has turned the team who was easy to beat into a resolute team. Once again we should have been out of sight before Spurs regrouped. That is my biggest concern so far. Even Christen is looking good now. Who would have thought that? The most important player in our three clean sheets is Azpi. Hats off to him. But all of the boys played well. And we deserved the three points without any shadow of a doubt

We did wise fan and I agree we need to be more clinical, the biggest positive is the way tuchel sets us up we only need 1 or 2 goals to win so we he has given himself time to get the forwards scoring.

I think it’s a muscle injury for Silva and he would be out for some time. And we really have to be more clinical. We dominated from the start till the end but only scored 1 goal. Werner is completely devoid of confidence and I think Tuchel has to rest him a bit. And our central midfielders, all of them, have to learn how to shoot. It’s a pity Lampard is not there. He could have taught Kovacic and Jorginho to shoot.

Otherwise, a 3 points against our bitter rival, a fellow contender for top 4 or top 6, and our first victory this season against top teams. So no complain, very happy. I will have to see the highlight tonight as I watched the game while working, so could not focus at all.

Hope that Silva’s injury is not too bad and Christensen would step up, but I’m still not confident with Christensen. Azpi, Christensen, Rudiger, just too familiar and I am afraid that we would see some horror performance again in our defense. One player that clearly benefits from Tuchel’s appointment is CHO. A wonderful player, so little opportunity under Sarri and Lampard combined. Hopefully he stays healthy and injury free.

We tested their keeper twice in the whole match, the penalty and an effort from Mount on 75 minutes. We were lucky that Tottenham were lethargic. Son was mostly well contained and without Kane Tottenham are there for the taking. Good result however , as the commentators said, the side is less creative now than under Lampard. That would largely have something to do with the changes made and players utilised. We are more solid from the defenders through to the mid-field hence Tuchel achieving something that Lampard lacked, the ability to have clean sheets. Three on the trot and 7 points out of 9.

Oh, and Silva was immense up until his injury. When he went off I fully expected Tottenham to find a way though. To their credit the boys resisted everything thrown at them as Tottenham asked a few more questions in the 2nd half. Another victory over Jose, always good 🙂
