All games are important but this will tell us alot, playing a spurs side who not really signed anyone, on top of that, we usually do Spurs at OT. On that note, if we struggle badly, it means we are in a worse rut then we thought.
August 22, 2018 at 10:54 am #1668393It’s a big game for a lot of reasons. The pressure is cranking up on Mourinho, and more and more fans and pundits are starting to turn on him. Lose at home with an uninspiring performance and there’ll be talk of flying banners.
Now is the time to come out fighting.
August 22, 2018 at 5:46 pm #1668546Agree it’s a big game even at this stage of the season. Will be interesting to see who he picks, will Smalling come in at the back? Will Sanchez be available if not does Rashford start over Martial?
Wouldn’t mind Ashley Young having another week off either! Think my team would be;De Gea
Darmian, Smalling, Bailly, Shaw
Herrera, Fred, Pogba
Lingard, Lukaku, RashfordNeed some experience heads who fight for the shirt like Herrera.
I think we’ll win 2-1August 22, 2018 at 9:18 pm #16685681-1 … not much faith in this team right now.
August 22, 2018 at 9:46 pm #16685701-5 to Spurs.
Beds soaked everywhere.
August 22, 2018 at 10:02 pm #1668573Valencia and Matic were back in training last week, so they might be involved.
We just need to regroup. One defeat does not make a season. If we get stuffed then last week’s press will seem like a walk in the park.
August 22, 2018 at 10:16 pm #1668575We missed Valencia last week, talk about buying another RB but at the moment he’s the best we’ve got..he frustrates me most of the time but I’d rather see him start over Darmian and Young
August 22, 2018 at 10:19 pm #1668579Dalot should be available shortly, but I think Jose would prefer to bring him in only if the team is settled and we are winning matches.
August 22, 2018 at 11:12 pm #1668585Would it be better for the long run if we lost ? I have never ever said that before, but Mourinho has to go. Even when results are ok our football is turgid and will continue to be so under him.
Football quality was obviously disappointing under LvG – but you know what I think it was slightly better than our Mourinho – with results slightly worse. And LvG was at least a bit likeable, Mourinho is a total douchebag and always has been.
August 23, 2018 at 2:53 am #1668588Hmmm, this WILL be interesting. There could be a Fergie style comeback after the Brighton defeat seeking to restore club pride OR there can be the Wenger style sulk & slump with a lacklustre performance.
I don’t think this team (the players) have the character that Fergie’s player had and I don’t think Jose can or will instill that character. He doesn’t strike me as the master motivator Fergie was.
I need to think on this one.
August 23, 2018 at 6:23 am #1668592hearing that some united fans have paid for a plane to fly over with an Ed out Banner at Burnley?
August 23, 2018 at 6:44 am #1668594Our gang of Bovril chuckers have paid for one to go over before Spurs saying:
“Off you you go to Barca Pogba, you c…ockroach. LBHP”
August 23, 2018 at 6:45 am #1668595hahahahahaha
August 23, 2018 at 9:59 am #1668678Look on the bright side, the game is Monday night. This means a bad result can’t wreck your weekend.
August 23, 2018 at 3:05 pm #1668795I`ll go too for a 1-1.
August 23, 2018 at 4:58 pm #1668842Imagine the owners sent a banner straight after, saying we have spent 700 million post Fergie.
August 23, 2018 at 5:46 pm #1668851“Imagine the owners sent a banner straight after, saying we have spent 700 million post Fergie.” and tagged on to the end of it – just imagine how much more that could have been if we hadn’t leveraged the fuck out of the club to buy it!
August 23, 2018 at 5:51 pm #1668854As for the score on Monday 3-0 to Utd!

August 24, 2018 at 2:41 pm #1669140This is a very tough one to call for the reasons cited by the MacGuffin. To be honest, I don’t think Mourinho can motivate this lot anymore because by all accounts he has lost the dressing room; inspiration will have to come from elsewhere.
We are short on leaders but typically in games like this players like Herrera, and De Gea (leads by example) step up. Maybe even Ashley Young might put his zimmer frame aside and get the others around him up for it, he has some big performances under his belt. The fans will also play a big part. I am unsure of what type of atmosphere we can expect.
The most interesting thing in this game for me, is whether Mourinho will stick or twist with Lindelof and Bailly. In my opinion, it is crucial that Jose seeks to build their confidence instead of dropping them at the minute. They were disastrous last week but they are the gaffer’s purchases. He needs to stick by them and trust them – crucial decision to be made there.
Spurs have been losing to us at Old Trafford for eons but Monday will present the best opportunity to beat us in years considering the rancid funk in our dressing room. I’ll take the Mac’s strategy and sit on the fence until Monday to make a prediction.
