Yellow to our key mid fielder. Jorginho’s a great player but also an idiot. That unnecessary yellow may yet come back to bite us.

Another Thiago Silva special and he’s only five foot nothing and a minute later he clears one off the line. Brilliant.

Don’t blame Jorginho. Mendy takes responsibility for that stupid mistake. Why contest someone with the ball in your own box? When you have the opportunity to clear. It could have been comfortable. But thank God Mount has scored.

Not seeing anybody blame Jorginho here and it’s only you and I posting but you are right Mendy had every chance to clear the ball. Michael Owen and co on the box are blaming Jorginho though saying he left Mendy high and dry.

Jorginho has some of the blame i think. But Mendy had the chance to put it out for corner which he didn’t. His decision making of late when the ball was at his feet was questionable. I hope we get the next game to kill off this match.

Reece James by far our best player. Absolutely brilliant.

2 boo boos from Mendy probably a bit more of a freak goal than a Mendy mistake for the winner but they all count. The first goal which was stupid really cost us going in at ht 2 nil up which could well have made it a different game.

Reece James was terrible 2nd half. Jorginho’s mistake. Mendy’s mistakes. A freak goal. It was bound to happen. We played bad but won against Watford & now we played bad (not as bad but not good) and lost. Lukaku was pants. He did nothing. Anyway the road is still long but I think our December slump has started.

I think we all sensed a bad result coming in this one. Let’s just take it on the chin and on to the next one.

BTW when did we sign Adebayo Akinfenwa? 😊

All the stats suggest Chelsea dominated the game even though we weren’t at our best and giving such a silly penalty away was ridiculous, Mendy has to take the majority of the blame but a percentage of the blame also lies with Jorginho with the poor back pass.

The winning goal was a freak goal and when you’re not quite at your best and missing 3 key players and concede two goals like the first and third goals it’s always likely to cost you.

Lukaku’s performance in the second half was worrying and losing Havertz up front at the end of the first half didn’t help us.

We missed badly Kante & Kovacic. Hopefully one of them will be available soon. RLC is not bad at all but defensively he clearly hasn’t covered as well as Kovacic or Kanté. Jorginho was exposed too much. Lukaku looked really rusty. He wasn’t performing well before him injury & he looked out of sort today. This kind of results happen and it will happen too to our competitors. The important thing is we should remedy this situation. Tighten our defense as before and start take our chances up front. Apart Mount & Ziyech, nobody looked sharp in front of goal recently.

Aindro, I think we certainly miss kante and kovacic greatly. Even so I have nothing but praise for Ruben for adapting to this role best he can and I don’t think he doing that bad.

Totally agree re lukaku, was poor for quite a few games before the injury and gave us absolutely nothing today.

I think we have relied a lot on faultless defending in quite a few games to get us over the line and when we start making mistakes like we did today we are in real trouble unless we are fantastic in the final 3rd.

Fingers crossed that these individual errors remain rare.

5 Premiership matches ahead leading up to the end of the year then we have back to back Liverpool and Manchester City in early to mid January. Those 7 matches will most likely define our season. 5 weeks of congested fixtures and some form issues and key injuries to get over. Lets hope we come out of that lot in a position to not be battling just for a top four spot. I’d be happy finishing 3rd at seasons end too 999.

Well, a loss today was always a possibility. We are missing some key players and we’re also nowhere near the form we were showing earlier in the season. West Ham are no mugs these days, and are 4th on merit. Hopefully it’s just a blip, these happen to every team throughout the course of the season.

Where we are in the league now though is probably a more realistic indicator of where we will finish up. Mendy had a howler today, and when you mess around with the ball at the back as much as we do, it’s inevitable it will bite you in the arse at some point. I think Mendy is a bloody brilliant keeper, but with the ball at his feet he makes me nervous as hell.

One thing that concerns me more than anything though, is yet again our inability to put teams to the sword. Simply put, we just don’t score enough goals, especially from our forward line. I was sooo optimistic about Lukaku when he signed, I was fully on board. Honestly, I can see him going down as yet another in a long line of big money Chelsea striker shit-shows. What is it with this club? No matter who the manager of the playing staff are, we really struggle in this area. We haven’t really had a team that destroys opponents regularly since the Ancelotti team. When I see Liverpool and City absolutely savaging teams on practically a weekly basis, I do wonder why, for all the money we’ve spent, we can’t do that?

It may surprise some that Chelsea have scored in every match since 30 September – The focus needs to be on the defence and midfield. Jorginho for all his brilliance can be a mistake waiting to happen as was proven against Manchester United and again against West Ham. He is vulnerable without the likes of Kante and Kovacic out there with him. Chilwell’s loss appears to be significant also. In the short term we need a fit Kante and Kovacic back. Wolves away in a few weeks will be the next significant hurdle.

Mendy has never looked comfortable with his feet and was 100% at fault for their winning goal for bad positioning. But we have to blame the backpass too. Jorginho have gave away 2 fatal errors in the last 2 matches he played. He is not the same player without Kovacic or Kanté. This is the first point Tuchel has to work on to find a solution as it seems that Kante & Kovacic are still far from being ready. Chalobah was brilliant as DM but he is out too. For me: play Christensen as DM to partner RLC or Jorginho and play Azpi/Sarr in the back three. The second point is to make Lukaku useful again. He was useless. I believe we would have had a different result if Havertz wasn’t injured.
