Haha, nice one Dandy! I shall take your post as a compliment, although I doubt somewhat that Lenny will! I always find it to be a nice compliment when someone suggests that a good, articulate poster, is actually me in disguise.

One wonders who you might be mistaken for?

Lenny – The same arguement was put to a scientist on GMTV the other morning and he sniggered and said it is very niave to think the we need decades worth of data to know what the outcome will be in decades with a 99.9% certainty as that is where science is today.

Every drug that comes to market has to be able to prove safe usage for decades, and they can usually do this in 2 years with accelerated studies.

Not sure who Jan is, but Jen and I gave up smoking and moved to vaping at the same time, just over three years ago, and we might be taking a slight gamble on our health, but at least 95% better odds than when we were smoking 🙂

…or as Lenny might say…”Dandy, before you bandy about accusations, it might be an idea to desist from the brandy and stick to the shandy”

Apologies Lenny…poor effort…but hey what the Hell eh?

Stay off the brandy Dandy. Try some shandy and you won’t talk so bandy.
    It would come in handy.

Let me get this right Paxo. Your gung-ho confidence of avoiding an early death from a smoking related disease is based upon some sniggering scientist’s comment on GMTV. He must have one mother of a crystal ball!
Maybe this could help drive the point home to you. Here’s a short list of people who all died from smoking related illnesses. Many of them died at a time when smoking was still deemed to be cool, healthier and even therapeutic. You may even have heard of some of them….

Louis Armstrong – Desi Arnaz – James Baldwin – Lucille Ball – “Count” Basie – Gilbert Becaud – Barbara Bel Geddes – Leonard Bernstein – Amanda Blake – Neville Brand – Humphrey Bogart – Richard Boone – Yul Brynner – John Candy – Johnny Carson – Jack, Cassidy – Rosemary Clooney – Nat “King” Cole – Chuck Connors – Noel Coward – Gary, Cooper – Bette Davis – Sammy Davis Jr – Walt Disney – Jimmy Dorsey – T.S Eliot – Duke Ellington – F. Scott Fitzgerald – Ian Fleming – Errol Flynn – Sigmund Freud – Clark Gable – Serge Gainsbourg – Betty Grable – George Harrison – John Huston – Burl Ives – Boris Karloff – Andy Kaufman – King George VI – Michael Landon – Julie London – Dean Martin – Lee Marvin – Groucho Marx – Walter Matthau – Steve McQueen – Robert Mitchum – Roy Orbison – Jacquie Onassis – George Peppard – Vincent Price – Princess Margaret – Lou Rawls – George C Scott – Robert Shaw – Frank Sinatra – Spencer Tracy – Sophie Tucker – Lana Turner – John Wayne – Mary Wells – Jack Wild – Carl Wilson.

….and they were just the famous people! There are millions of other poor bastards who have puffed away and painfully succumbed to a similar exit.
Habitual smoking in any form is a mugs game.
    Lenny.

Hahahaha – Lenny you were the type of person he was laughing at, yes smoking was thought to be okay at these times, but are you really telling me that you can’t see how the quantum shift in scientific advancments since these times have made it much more reliable what we are being told by the like of PHE, WHO, and the NHS all of whom have conducted experiments.

In this days people were also being killed are experiencing life changing health problem due to taking prescription drugs (ever heard of the thalidomide disaster), an issue that has all but been eradicated due to scientific advancements. I have never said once that vaping is not at all harmful, just that it is pretty well documented from credible sources that it is 95% better for you than smoking.

In fact A new report from the Royal Society for Public Health has found one myth about the dangers of smoking has endured for decades. The research suggests nine out of 10 people falsely believe nicotine is very harmful to their heath, when in fact it is no more dangerous than the caffeine in a cup of coffee.

Do you not drink coffee, drink alcohol or do anything else that is potential bad for your health. If this is the case then fair enough, you may live to a very ripe old age, but as a wise man once said, ‘It is the life in your years, not the years in your life’ 🙂

Sorry to bring in reputable sources once more 🙂

Jeez, this thread has been hijacked by those who just love to preach/wind up.

You can’t ‘talk’ bandy, however much you want to construct a rhyme.
*raises eyes to the heavens in exasperation*
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Bloggy made more sense than Lenny.

Regardless of Lenny’s unreferenced scaremongering (my vape liquid doesn’t contain any of the metallics he mentions), vaping is a material improvement on smoking. It’s an undisputable fact as underpinned by research from highly visible health organisations.

I find it pretty sad that there are those who seem compelled to denigrate what is a potentially life saving alternative to smoking for the sake of a bit of online one-upmanship.

The shift in scientific advancement has still not managed to keep up with pressing dangerous problems that we face today. This planet has never been more chemically polluted. You place far too much blind faith in the reams theoretically predicted balderdash that’s spouted out by organisations you mention.
There are obviously conflicting views but this does not detract from the fact that vaping is a very stupid habit indeed. Breathing in known carcinogenic micro-metallic particles and poisonous chemicals on a regular basis will degrade your lungs capacity to function properly and the shit stuck down there will slowly seep into bloodstream. Cell changes can then occur in a multitude of ways and that can bring on all sorts of bad conditions you could do without.
Surely you’re not seriously trying to equate a cup of coffee or a pint of beer with sucking vapour directly into your lung sacks Paxo! Your as naïve as Ash. If you drink you’ll piss it out again within a short time. That’s not the case with carcinogens and chemically filled vapour. It sits in there, builds up, mutates and then bingo. Full house!
I know you might get disappointed, but do yourself a favour Pax and talk Jen out of sucking the tube. You might just as well give her that ol’ Cuban cheroot again. It’ll do the same trick in the long run.
Have a fruitful smoke free evening,
    Lenny.

Hey Ash, it’s just dawned on me. You said earlier that your own personal vape chemical concoction doesn’t contain any of the metallic’s I mentioned. I can understand that and it could well be true. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of different chemical and metallic concoctions out there now for punters to choose from.
But this means you must know precisely what chemicals and metallic’s are in yours!
Would you be so kind as to enlighten us all and give a comprehensive list of all the chemicals and micro-metallic and nano-metallic particles that are in your chosen puff’? I’m sure it would help to kick-start a plethora of useful information from other vapers out there as to whether or not vaping can seriously be considered as a “life saving” alternative to smoking.
I look forward to reading your list.
    Cheers, Lenny.

Lenny, your increasingly compulsive stalking of me is becoming bloggy-esque. Strange that.

As such I won’t be indulging your apparently relentless need to trawl for an argument, or indeed to get my attention.

However, if you are indeed as sad a soul as I assume, you can go and research my vape liquid of choice in the desperate hope you might find something with which to prove to the world (or in reality a couple of semi-interested TTers lol) what a clever little guy you are! It’s branded ‘Pocket Fuel’, is made and sold by a UK company called Vapestore, and the exact flavour I prefer is blackberry grape spritz.

When I spend any time on TT I prefer to chat with other adults who are open to the opinions of others, unlike yourself.

I realise by replying to your latest cry for attention I’ve again indulged you, so maybe you can now stop referencing me in practically every post you type now?? It’s a bit creepy Len. Not good.

Well I have to confess that I really don’t know very much about “vaping” but since my name seems to keep cropping up in this thread I s’pose I better offer my thoughts on the subject.

From what I gather vaping pretty much has to do with providing pathetically weak willed smokers, unable to give up smoking tobacco by way of their own sad lack of will power…in spite of it being ultimately likely to kill them…with an alternative, a half way house as it were, to ease the pain of saving their own lives.

I guess there must be a sadder bunch of self confessed losers somewhere in society, than those inadequates posting on this thread, prepared to put their hands up and admit to so little control over their own well being that they are unable to simply say…”hold on…this is killing me…I’ll stop”…although I have to admit that I can’t think of any.

No great surprise therefore, to find the usual intellectually challenged suspects lined up herewith, to rejoice in their own stupidity.

    Makes you wonder doesn’t it?

    Bloggs.
