We should feel even better about Klopp in charge now than when he first arrived in 2015. Even in the position we are in.

Anyone who thinks that Klopp should step aside is crazy and should be cancelled. Last thing they need is more negativity.

Nothing a new coach can or will easily fix. More likely make things worse.

And sign Mbappe next season. If the crowds can come back, it can be done.

And do it before the cowardly big teams on the continent revamp the CL enough for them to stand a chance against the might and the money of the premier league.

When was the last time we were in position to sign someone like him? Injuries have been appalling, but standards have also really slipped.

Not that i’m calling for Klopp’s head but what really worries me is his one-dimensional tactics. You cannot play the same way with different personnel and it really looks like he has no plan B. Covid, injuries, no fans or whatever else cannot be an excuse for such performances.

So, FSG have apparently agree a deal with this Red Ball crowd, for a partial selling of the club. LeBron James will be involved also.

I’m not entirely enthused because it draws Nike even closer to us but if it goes ahead then Bingos (apologies) insane shit about MBappe becomes a bit less insane. Not much, just a bit less insane.

Anyway, what do ye think about this? I kinda like how FSG have been doing things but it’s smart for them to cash some of their success out.

My only issue is FSG is their reluctance to spend much for a big club. It’s shocking that some mid table clubs have a higher net spend than us in the last 5 seasons

Mak is it so insane that Mbappe wants to follow into Lebron´s footsteps, Lebron is one of the biggest sport personalities on the planet, his deal with NIKE is rumored to be in the billion… Why wouldn´t Mbappe want to copy that or even get a bigger deal than James..? He is already being groomed for the role, the big problem with football is from NIKE point of view is that players don´t have the longevity of the basketball… So if Mbappe wants that leading NIKE ambassador role he will need to do as they want, he can´t go to Real Madrid and play in a ADIDAS kit and get a billion dollars from his sponsors…

On the other hand if he signs for the new flagship of NIKE, Liverpool FC, hits his targets of winning the Champions League, he will get that same life deal from NIKE as Lebron… The way I see the deal is that Mbappe got the opportunity to equal Real Madrid´s record in the Champions League with us, that would firmly plant him as one of the biggest players ever of the game…

Sure he could opt for the cop out and sign for Madrid, take the secure way in footballing terms, you don´t really go wrong with the biggest club on the planet but if you really want to make your mark, make a legacy of your own then you need to write history on your own and then the sky is the limit…

Do me one favor as well mak, consider how big Lebron actually is, cause the dude got personality for miles, he can even shut up motormouth Zlatan… There is no sport star in the world right now that has accomplished as much as Lebron, he is by far the most generous talent out there, he is the smartest one… He is building a empire that is far bigger than anything any footballer has done so far… In terms of role models there is nobody better and I am 100% sure that Mbappe knows that and wants to emulate that in his own way of course…

That´s why I am confident we are in the running for his signing, even if we don´t qualify for the Champions League this season, cause if we don´t qualify for the Champions League I am putting us down as firm favorites for the title next season… Nobody would want to face us if we had enough recovery time for all the players, if we could focus on one match per week, nobody could last the distance with us like that…

Bingo, you’re not wrong about Lebron James, the guy is a megastar, I’m not denying his draw. I won;’t say we 100% will not sign MBappe, FSG might not be Man City’s owners but when they spend, they tend to spend a lot in single windows, or spells.

What makes your whole thing a “fantasy” is your firm belief. I’m not knocking you for it but I will say that I don’t agree with you calling Real a cop out. This is your bias coming in and polluting your critical thinking abilities. Real are a club that is in between projects. This summer could represent the start of a new legendary Real team. They have debt? They have ALWAYS had massive crushing debt. In the past they’ve been bailed out by the Government/Royals (I forget the details). It’s never stopped them from spending.

Real is an absolutely massive draw but I agree, that we are too and over the years, the top PL sides have been able to scrap with the La Liga giants over top players and the tide has been turning. We aren’t as big a club as Real but the PL is a better league and everybody knows it. It’s a far more difficult title to win, if you can picth and choose whatever top team you want to join, although there is an argument that City have a strangle-hold on it… but I agree with you that we’ll be back next season too. I even think we’ll be back this season. I’m not saying we’ll win the CL but I think we’ll put some wins together and as I’ve said already, I just feel we’ll qualify for the CL, I guess I have a bit of a fantasy going there too 😛

Lebron James becoming a full partner at the club is definitely not going to hurt your chances of seeing your dream come true Bingo but how much will it help it? How friendly are MBappe and Lebron these days? Have there been any tweets between them about Liverpool recently?

I want to believe that we could go for him, I really really do. There are reasons to be drawn into this kind of thing and reasons to step away from it. Just be careful of under-estimating the draw of Real Madrid. Until we hear something solid, we’ll just have to hope.

It might not be him but we are due for some activity in the market and if its not him we need Haaland but I also took notice of some amazing numbers from Patson Daka, he could follow a very similar trajectory to Mane or even better… He has really taken off in the last two seasons with 42 goals in 49 games, followed up with 10 assists… He is becoming more and more consistent… Its only a matter of time before Sot´on buy him and then we after a season or two…

This is the kind of profile I would like instead of Origi and Shaqiri, even though the latter has improved a bit this season… There is no new exciting prospect waiting to come on… We need that as a team otherwise we are just gonna keep on relying on the same stale product…

Ya, some of our larger acquisitions helped us forget how we have generally done business under FSG. Looking at Mane and Salah in particular, who besides us was seriously interested in them? If any massive club was genuinely interested in either it’s news to me, yet they went on to become truly world class players, who could have walked into pretty much any team in the world. During that time, the more established clubs were scouting or signing the established stars.

Now, there’s a valid argument to say that we are now in the top tier, when we weren’t when Klopp first took over. Our “change” in policy reflects that but of course it could just be us venturing away from a core policy when it suits. FSG/Klopp both seem to have the discovery of the NEXT MBappe/Haaland as their goal. I think Klopp said as much too… but then he went and signed Van Dijk a year or so later 😀

I don’t think we’ll sign either Haaland or MBappe. City will be replacing Aguero, so they will have “first option” (given their resources) and let’s not forget Real.

WE don’t have to agree here Bingo but what I see, is us signing several players, hoping to unearth another Salah, Mane or the like. We agree that it needs to be shaken up. I can see 1 or even 2 of the old front 3 leaving.

I need to see more of Kabak but after his last 2 performances, I’m starting to think we will sign him. I’ll look up that player you spoke of, I won’t lie, I don’t think I know him. As for Shaqiri, he really only needed more chances and fewer injuries. I have always considered him to be quality.

Not a bad result for us there in the Arsenal/West Ham game.

Could do with similar in next game too.

Mak we do not differ much on what needs to be done this summer… I see three key players being brought in… Similar players to Van Dijk, Alison and Fabinho in profile…

Then depending on departures we need to fill up the squad, get some thirsty players in that are willing to make a name for themselves as our fringe is not delivering enough…

Thats just the way I like it too be, that we sell the fringe players and buy new hungry players that are capable of pushing for the first team…

Next season we can offload more of the fringe players and get more hungry players in… I dont ever want to sell a player that delivers when out on the pitch, its only when they can’t cut it anymore that I cut my loyalty to them…

A player like Lallana can be very influential playing a bit part role, the same can be said of Matip, Lovren and a few others…

Then there is the front three and they need to develop, they need to add more to their game and we can only do that if we increase competition at the top… I dont want to sell anyone but I reckon someone is leaving… The club might even cash in on two of them…

Yes. For years we’ve hung onto some fringe players but I think there will be some serious movement this summer. It won’t be lost on FSG that their lack of action has helped this season come about. We’ve got to focus on getting these perpetually injured players off the wage bill and out of the managers plans… because you can’t include these types in any plan worth enacting.

There is of course first team players who we will lose this time around. At least one of the front lads will surely command a fee and then there is Wijnaldum, which we will have no say in. I guess we don’t agree here as to when we should sell a player. I think I am some-what closer to the Money-Ball style (if it even really is), in that I just want us to be able to perpetuate a high value side, for selfish purposes of maintaining success on the field.

I still don’t see where FSG will find the money (that works within FFP) for a replacement of Salah, Mane and Firmino and others, within the next 2-3 season, without cashing in on them while they still have value. They went through last summer without doing it and although I didnt want to lose any at the time, I felt that was as mistake and voiced as such on here, or Footy-debate. Probably both.

Ya, Bingo, i think the club SHOULD cash in on 2 of the front 3 this summer. i really hate to say this but I think it might be Mane and Firmino. I’ve been critical of Firmino and rightly so, I’ve also been the same on a much lesser level with Mane and I think that’s warranted also. The thing is, I still think Mane has that WORLD CLASS player in him and I’d really be sad to see him go. I don’t know about Firmino, he’s not the same player at all. Maybe he is just done here, who knows but I think I’d cash in on them. Firmino playing so poorly, would he command a fee? He’s a very high profile Brazilian international, so I;d hope so. Mane looks like he might finish the season in better form, so I think we’d get a pretty ,good fee for him.

I think Id keep Salah because even though I often think Mane is a better player and is physically better at the same age, Salah has always scored a lot of goals for us, always. He’s still doing it when the others have fallen off. I think maybe we just keep him until he’s no longer able to cut it and use the other 2’s fees, plus an FSG injection, plus the fees we get for selling the fringe players that we can sell.. and we get those 3-4 big signings.

We’ve 7 games in 5 weeks to save our season.
No CL football next year could have profound implications in the short and medium term.

    We play…
    Leeds away Mon 8pm
    Home v Newc
    Utd away
    Home v southampton
    Away to WBA
    Away to Burnley
    Home v Palace

Plenty of rest and prep time between these games. That should allow us to play our ever presents without being forced into rotation, injuries aside.
Front 3/4 need to start firing. It’s been a problem all season long. Needing too many chances, lack of shots, poor passing/decision making in the final third, poor delivery.
They must find a way to take the 3 points.
I’m still not a fan of this high line with our current centrebacks. I believe we’ll be caught out again with it before the seasons out.
Chelsea/West Ham/Leicester have much harder run ins on paper but Newc, WBA and Burnley are fighting for survival.
Leeds next. A very tricky game!

Agree with all that. Our run in is definitely harder than it looks, but I’m still happy enough with it. The front 3 have lost all their guile. I think some players have played here a year too long and when we replace them, the others games will come alive again.

Missing out on the CL really could have profound implication. I’ve seen some people saying how it could be good etc etc… I don’t subscribe to that silver lining. For me, it’s all bad. if we happen to do well in the PL, it wont be because we had no CL to worry about. It’ll be because we’ve resolved problems. CL is a must in order to maintain our position as a top ambitious team. To miss out in just one season, is opening the potential to drifting away.

Need to focus on only one thing, and that’s beating Leeds on Monday, a very tough team.

I personally will only take it one game at a time, but the aim here is really straightforward, we have to win as many of our remaining games as possible (and as soon as possible) to avoid having to rely on other results.

As for the team, we need goals, so it’s time for Jota to become a starter in every game until the end of the season, alongside Salah. Mane is certainly exhausted and off-form, while Firmino does not score enough, so they can fight it out for the third starting place, if it’s a 433.

Shaqiri and Ox can play their part too, where relevant or necessary

I think Firmino has improved since he was dropped previously. I won’t pretend to be entirely happy with him but I see more effort from him than mane, so for me it is mane who now must sit it out and yes, Jota in to start from here on.

I actually saw Firmino put his foot through a shot yesterday. Only one of them so im not getting too excited, as the rest of our efforts were tame. In this case, he blasted it over but I’ll accept it as an improvement on the tame efforts that also go over. more of this and we might see Firmino adding a goal or 2 soon. I’d like to see it from the others also.
