So, with Krychowiak and Gibbs joining and Evans back fit (and committed), how will we line up for Albion vs Albion? Foster in goal (of course) and my guess is Brunt will drop to the bench with Gibbs taking the LB role. I would keep Nyon at RB and stick with Dawson/Hegazi as CB’s. Midfield will remain as per Stoke (Rodriguez, Livermore, Barry, Phillips) So do we go with Jimmy or Greg to accompany them, as Greg is more defensive my guess is that TP will select him and have Jimmy on the bench. Leaving Rondon up front as a ‘Billy no mates’. Bench will be Brunt, Jimmy, Evans, McClean and Robson-Kanu which, IMHO, is strength in depth as they say. Be interesting to see how TP makes them all happy.
HRK won’t be on the bench as he’s still suspended I think. I’m assuming it’s still 3 matches for violent conduct. Evans is captain so I think that Dawson will probably make way unless TP is holding a grudge against Hegazi. The rest is probably right as it’s an away game against a newly promoted side.
There are now no excuses. TP has the best squad at his disposal that he’s ever had. And Albion and his management have moved on to a new realm, where deploying a surfeit of good players will become a balancing act of tactics and good man-management.
Yacob on, to shore up the defence, if we have a lead. Otherwise, Brunt, Burke, McClean, Chadli, Morrison to come on, if Rondon left alone or misfiring.
These next two games could dictate the rest of the season…win them, and we’re near the top of the table with a full head of steam. Lose them and heads will drop and recriminations will be made. So I just hope TP realizes what a powerful team he has and uses his players to their best advantage. I know that possession means very little these days, but pressure is always good, because your opponents cannot score if they’re in their own half.
Now, I don’t need any predictions from Ciaran. Let’s just let ’em play.
