Based on Wenger’s previous record and given we have Chelsea coming up next week is there anyone else out there that thinks Wenger may well field a weakened side against Southampton on Saturday and effectively ‘throw’ the match. He has previous for doing this and it wouldn’t surprise me at all. Southampton will be buoyant after their progress through to the League Cup Final and I for one will be very surprised if we don’t get knocked out on Saturday. Time will tell.

He’s already said he’s going to rest Sanchez but, to be fair, I’m more interested getting points against Watford and Chelski.

If he rests players on Sat and we go out, but get at least four points from the two league games, I’ll take it.

Of course, if we get knocked out the cup and lose more ground on the Chavs, different story….

I can see us going with Ospina, Gibbs, Holding, Mustafi, Gabriel (possibly Bellerin), Coq, Ramsey, Iwobi, Ozil, Walcott, Welbeck.

Personally i couldnt give 2 sh!ts if we go out the FA cup as long as players put some sort of fight up and actually play our game rather than just not turn up at all, (i am firmly looking at Ozil here)

i dont care who we play, we should still be winning this game, no disrespect to Southanpton, but we have a big expensive squad now and that squad needs to be used and the players need to step up.

i would take going out if they put in a real shift and show they care if its second string anything else and no i would be very unhappy especially if we went through at the cost of the PL, that said if we cant win PL and i dont think we can this year then id take FA CUP for another trophy

Hulk -agreed. It’s not as if we’ve ever fought very hard in matches on a consistent basis is it? And I’m looking at Walcott, if he plays, even more than Ozil. Seems to get away with doing very little and then, when he’s surely going to be dropped, pops up with a goal. Another stay of execution, before he goes back to anonymity, yet again.

Not to cause a stir or anything, I guess people will overreact on here but there were posters on here ranting and raving about Walcott… TSO and even Shifty you kept praising him. TSO kept demanding apologies that wewere wrong but what has he done since his purple patch? Sweet f*ck all. Don’t you guys realise this is Walcott all over – even worse than Giroud when he goes on his purple patch. They start to offer very little without their goals, especially Walcott. At least Giroud can chuck in the odd assist.

Sorry bam walk I’m confused. Walcott hasn’t done anything since his purple patch!!!!!! No he hasn’t, because he hasn’t played. I don’t know if you have noticed but he has been injured. Plus I don’t really see what this has to do with Wenger possibly throwing the game tomorrow.

Of course we won’t throw it but he will rest a couple and give a few players a game. This will be a hard game whatever team we put out Southampton are playing well they don’t let many goals in. We just have to hope they are tired after the mid week game. We played the stiffs at home and never got close to them in the league cup so can’t see us getting anything with those players. I think ox will play central mid but not sure who with? Lucas welbeck and Walcott up front

He’s thrown these games regularly before as well as League Cup and some CL games which is why we have finished second in CL groups and gone out of the FA Cup to poor opposition. The Cup is our only hope of winning anything so we should be going all out to get through, not pick a weak team, coast and lose. Soon will be very tough and we are hard pressed to win there at the best of times. Clouseau better not cock it up.

I am a guru called those team changes. Great performance from our stiffs. Front three and Ox were outstanding. If Ox gets a chance in the middle it could be the making of him. Great result, great performance!

bam walk, what were you saying about Walcott? Steve2bath1, we were playing the Soton reserves, we should be beating them. I’m more interested in judging how great we are after away games at Chelsea and Spurs and Man Utd and Liverpool. Lets see how we cope with those away games. Wenger fielded a daft team and got lucky.

This thread is about that game hence the comments let’s talk about the others when we play them. You have to agree it was a good performance come on admit it!

I already have, in great detail on the ‘best squad’ thread. As for this thread, I know what it’s about, I started it.

shifters – Don’t give too much into what bsm walk has to say mate.I’m telling you,I’ve seen a lot of deluded posters on this site before, but never have I seen someone so ignorant.

Earlier on in pre season I came and defended walcott in his worst time, and i know for a fact if he had a bad season I’d be lambasted for it.But he’s had a very good season IMO,being shifted back to his natural position(which is what it’s always been about). He’s scored 14 goals this season providing 2 assists. That is a fantastic return for someone who 90% of our fans wanted to be chucked off this summer. Now I’ve never made a case that he’s the best winger in the league, but he can be very useful and his stats prove it.

I’m not going to refrain myself from saying this,I was right yet again about him.It adds value to my opinion.
Where bsmwalk is concerned,I think his comment on this thread pretty much sums him up as a poster. He comes on and criticises him yet again for no reason whatsoever, only for walcott to give him one backhanded by scoring a hat trick. How many more times does he want to be proven wrong.Like really.
