Ziyech wants Onana to join Chelsea too. I think Onana would be a really good addition to our squad. Even if Kepa staysMarch 13, 2020 at 3:33 pm #1834947
We won’t be able to keep two Keepers at that level happy Aindro. Think Cech and Courtois.March 13, 2020 at 5:18 pm #1834956
999, I think the level would be more like de Gea & Romero at Utd. Kepa is good but I cannot rate him world class. Too small, his hands aren’t strong enough. Onana I haven’t seen much but all I’ve seen in UCL: he is impressive, potentially world class in the making. From Dutch league though, less intense than Premier League or La Liga or even Bundesliga.
But do we want to use 40m of our transfer kitty for a GK, that’s another question. I think we should as we need a world class GK if we want to succeed. But I understand other areas need improvement too. Such as striker the most obvious oneMarch 13, 2020 at 8:18 pm #1835001
Aindro, Kepa cost £70m and is vying with De Gea to be No 1 for Spain . Kepa almost certainly will not accept sitting on the bench for any length of time and I doubt Onana will come if he’s not promised the No 1 position.
There’s a reason that no Clubs have two really top No 1 Keepers in their squads.March 15, 2020 at 2:08 pm #1835199
Chelsea have reportedly agreed a provisional fee for the transfer of highly-rated young goalkeeper Brad Young.
The 17-year-old, currently on the books at Hartlepool, has been on trial with Chelsea, who are now ready to close the deal after agreeing a provisional fee,” ?March 16, 2020 at 6:57 pm #1835395
There`s rumour bout Dean Henderson, 50m.
If we decide to buy a new GK, who should it be?
1) Jan Oblak
2) André Onana
3) Dean Henderson
4) Nick Pope
5) Gianluigi Donnarumma
6) Aaron Ramsdale
7) OtherMarch 17, 2020 at 5:17 pm #1835588
Can’t see United selling us Henderson.March 17, 2020 at 7:13 pm #1835600
André Onana is my preferred choice, why? because he is a cheaper alternative to these overpriced goalkeepers, he wants to come to Chelsea, and he has proven experience at the highest order. and he is 23 like Henderson who will be impossible to sign from United.March 19, 2020 at 5:26 pm #1835926
Nick Pope may come for a cheaper price but I agree that Onana sounds to be a perfect choice as he wants to come to Chelsea and his price would be much cheaper than Oblak. Henderson, agreed 999, cannot see Utd selling him to us.
However, Donnarumma’s contract expires in 2021 and he hasn’t signed an extension yet. And he started to learn English!! I think this guy may be massive for us. An Italian international, 21 years old.
We are lately linked with Philippe Coutinho (hopefully we won’t go for him) and Serie A’s Pjanic and Lautaro Martinez. The latter I reckon would go to a “bigger” club like Barca and we don’t stand a chance here.March 22, 2020 at 8:37 am #1836248
“How many young players have been sold by Chelsea at a fairly low price (based on the current market) and then thrive somewhere else?
Mohamed Salah and Kevin de Bruyne have been among the world’s best players for Liverpool and Manchester City respectively. Romelu Lukaku, Nathan Ake, Ryan Bertrand and Nathaniel Chalobah have been important parts of their respective clubs.
Chelsea must avoid making same mistake and seriously consider triggering the buy-back clause for Sassuolo’s Jeremie Boga.
The 23-year-old has not been world-beater, but he has shown a glimpse of a great winger in Serie A.
Boga has scored eight goals and provided two assists from 23 appearances for Sassuolo. But what makes him special is his ability to glide past defenders with his pace and elusiveness.
He completed 4.4 dribbles per game. In fact, he is by far the best dribbler in the Italian top division this season.”
He has completed a total of 106 dribbles in Serie A this season. That’s 30 more than the second-best Fiorentina’s Gaetano Castrovilli.
For reference, Neymar completed a total of 90 dribbles in Ligue 1 this season.”March 23, 2020 at 12:42 pm #1836444
999, makes sense about Boga. Not a world beater but can be very useful player for us. And why not taking a punt? We have the buy back clause, the player wants to join us, he is young 23 years old, our current wingers Pedro and Willian are at the end of their contract. I think the gamble here is worth it considering all factors above.
Kepa seems wanting to stay. But IMO we still should buy a GK, Willy is 39 years old. And Onana seems to fit the bill. Wants to join us, not too expensive. We are also linked with Juan Muzzo of Udinese, but I have no idea about himMarch 30, 2020 at 8:44 am #1837634
Read somewhere that Chelsea have bought a 22 year old highly rated centre half from the French league, not sure if anyone has any knowledge of that?March 30, 2020 at 3:11 pm #1837732
Blueowner, according to today’s Express: “Chelsea could soon make Brazilian defender Gabriel Magalhaes their second summer signing because Lille may be keen on striking a deal “as soon as possible”, says transfer expert Duncan Castles. Chelsea are reportedly one of four clubs who have had an offer accepted for 22-year-old centre-back Gabriel.”March 30, 2020 at 6:42 pm #1837771
A bit weird if we buy Magalhaes, I did not hear we were linked with him before. And I think for centre backs, we kinda need a more or less experienced figure to lead our defense. Magalhaes is only 22 and currently we already have plenty of centre backs. Money should be spent somewhere else (GK, striker). Let’s just see whether this is just a rumour or if this will materialize.
Just read an article on TT that Rooney wasn’t convinced on de Gea in the beginning but de Gea then became no:1 at United for already quite longtime. Would it be the case for Kepa too? Would he improve at Chelsea despite what we’ve already seen 2 seasons? Would Lampard give Kepa another chance next season?
I think we should take advantage on Donnarumma’s situation. He will be out of contract 2021. Like what Real did to us with Courtois. Donnarumma hasn’t signed an extension yet and Milan would not want to lose him for free.March 31, 2020 at 7:03 am #1837794
Aindro I also feel we too inexperienced at centre half, that’s always been the main one area where you need an old head, maybe shift Azpliqueta there. But then again we also need someone taller as crosses are our weak point.March 31, 2020 at 10:28 am #1837832
All rumours guys it’s fun to speculate but I don’t believe any of them until I read the players signed on the official Club site. Today for instance we’re linked with Umtiti at Barca?
Of those we are getting linked with in the main there does though seem a trend towards younger players?March 31, 2020 at 1:06 pm #1837872
999 agreed. I don’t think anybody will take anything seriously until the contract is signed. But it’s just fun to look on transfer rumours in this kind of situation where the competition is halted (temporarily).
Blaze yeah, we are really weak in defending crosses. Rudiger is 1.9 though but Christensen is not rough enough even though very technical and Tomori is not tall enough. Zouma is big but not technical enough. I really like Azpi as CB eventhough he is not tall, but we then will have to play 3 CB like Conte’s system if Azpi is to play CB. I still think we need somebody experienced, commanding if we are to buy a new CB.
And concerning transfers, we still have soon out-of-contract situation with Willian, Pedro and Giroud.March 31, 2020 at 1:25 pm #1837873
If Frank really wants to retain Willian with the Club understandably only wanting to offer Willian a 2 year contract perhsps a way to beat the deadlick might be what Inter intend to do with Giroud who wants a 3 year contract with Inter ready to offer Giroud a two year contract with an option of a third year.
I would really hate to see Willian in a Spurs shirt.April 1, 2020 at 2:45 pm #1838149
Sancho will probably end up at United cause they willing to match the transfer costs while Chelsea are not, pity.April 1, 2020 at 6:48 pm #1838199
Blueowner: while Sancho without any doubt starts to become a great player, I think would be unwise to be spend £100 million only on 1 player. We have certain areas to improve: GK, LB, striker that are more priority than getting Sancho as we’ll have Ziyech next season. I would better try to develop Hudson-Odoi as the lad clearly has enormous potential. We also have Pulisic who was good in Bundesliga but hasn’t really shown consistency in Premier League.
For me the biggest chunk of our transfer kitty should go to buy a new striker and a GK. I don’t think we can retain Giroud and I don’t think Michy will improve anymore. Same as Kepa, it’s been 2 seasons he is with Chelsea and he looks really far below Cech’s or Courtois’s quality. We need a good GK to succeed.
999, I would like to see Willian staying, he’s shown better contribution and consistency recently under FL. But if he rejects 2 year contract, which is already generous as Chelsea have a policy for 30+ players, I think we should see this opportunity to promote our youth such as Anjorin.
