…they bring up the Liverpool game where we had none of Mendy, Chilwell, Silva. Pulasic and Ziyech which roughly would equate to Alisson, Robertson, Gomez, Mane and Salah. We played with 10 men, Kepa gifted Liverpool a goal and Jorginho missed a penalty too.
This links into my post above re the media’s expectations of Chelsea which because of the money we’ve spent they rush into premature criticism and want us to fail.
I’ve said numerous times we won’t see the best of Chelsea until the second half of the season by which time some of these media Numpties may well have to eat their words!October 9, 2020 at 6:06 am #1882557
top target for Lampard and the Blues, is West Ham’s Declan Rice. Way overpriced.October 9, 2020 at 7:58 am #1882573
Mendy is also now injured he may even be put for 2 months depending on the extent of the thigh injury. What now! These injuries are a real curse.October 9, 2020 at 1:39 pm #1882657
Bad news, the Mendy injury needs assessing by the Club but if it’s a thigh strain this is the potential time out based on the level of seriousness:
“Full recovery can take up to six weeks or more. For a mild strain or sprain, most people feel better after a week or two of rest. You’ll know your quad is healed when you no longer have pain and can move your leg through its full range of motion. During this time, a gradual rehabilitation program is beneficial.”
A chance for Kepa? He kept a clean sheet for Spain in the week.October 9, 2020 at 6:15 pm #1882716
I read this morning that Mendy would be absent at least for the next match. So Kepa would start against Southampton against an on-fire Ings. Let’s see. Really unlucky that Mendy got injured but the season is long. Players will get injured. I am hoping to see Ziyech next match, probably from the benchOctober 9, 2020 at 7:11 pm #1882724
Andros Townsend says Crystal Palace were surprised by the quality of Chelsea’s new signings during their 4-0 loss at Stamford Bridge last weekend and their high pressingOctober 9, 2020 at 7:18 pm #1882727
They need to perform against all the teams Palace is very averageOctober 15, 2020 at 8:09 am #1883935
Chelsea may still sign Haaland a top forward who has a £63million release clause and admires Lampard.
When asked by ESPN who the one player he’d want to have played with that’s retired, he replied: “Frank Lampard.”October 18, 2020 at 9:07 pm #1885111
We should have tried for Grealish, that guy is class has everything despite playing in a sub par team though, Barkley not so bad eitherOctober 19, 2020 at 5:29 am #1885134
Sometimes I wonder if Lampard knows what his doing besides amongst other issues loaning out Barkley and preferring to keep the likes of Jorginho.October 19, 2020 at 6:08 am #1885135
Moos it’s insane we keep the likes of Jorginho and others but we loan out an England international who at least can score goals unlike Jorginho, Kante and Kovacic. I also was against spending so much money on a k4when we could have gotten a decent one for at least a third of the costs. Anyway I Sincerely hope Lampard gets it right as I don’t want Chelsea lose him knowing Roman’s limited patience.October 19, 2020 at 2:51 pm #1885326
Good goal by Barkley v Leicester.
Barkley wasn’t though competing for starts with Jorginho they both play in different positions he was competing with the likes of Harvertz and Mount which meant he would have got limited game time at Chelsea and was why he got loaned out.
I think it’s difficult to argue adainst the merits of keeping him in the squad but with limited game time he would probably have struggled to make the England squad for the Euro Finals.October 19, 2020 at 3:03 pm #1885330
I think we need to start a new thread this one’s done its job and is overloaded now with every post submitted taking you back to the beginning of the thread and of course the 2020 transfer windows have passed.
On the above basis I will put up a new thread for the Winter and Summer windows 2021 around 1pm tomorrow if that’s ok with everyone. Cheers All 9’sOctober 24, 2020 at 6:37 am #1886732
Someone on Chelsea’s Facebook site asked who was in charge at Chelsea when Bamford was sold, does anyone know? I remember Mourinho was I think in charge when Salah, De Bruyne and Mata were sold.October 24, 2020 at 7:13 am #1886735
Apologies been a bit busy and it slipped my mind to close this thread and open a new one but imo it does need doing if nobody objects let’s leave it until Monday then I will close this one for the reasons in my post above and start a 2021 thread. Cheers All 999October 24, 2020 at 7:31 am #1886739
Re Bamford, firstly well done on his hat trick last night and a great result for Leeds.
Sarri was in charge at Chelsea when he was sold to Leeds previous to that it was Conte but it would have been a Club decision to sell him. Bamford spent over 5 years at Chelsea most of which was on loan at Clubs outside the PL.
Palace in the PL looked a good fit but he couldn’t get a game and he ended the loan and he spent a season at Burnley where he played a handful of games.
He’s been slow burn but it looks like he might have found his feet at Leeds firstly in the Championship and now in the PL. Best of luck to him.October 24, 2020 at 10:34 am #1886775
Get on to Napoli NOW and offer Jorghino and Emerson (and cash if required) for Koulibaly. French/English speaking Senegalese capt, International mate of Mendy, comfortable playing the ball out from the back.
Get the deal done before Liverpool.
Thus guy has at least a couple of years left in his tank and all our younger centrebacks can only learn from having two of the worlds toP CBs at the club.
