it looks like you guys are heading for another slow window, hopefully you can add a few more young guns to the reserves as that seems to be paying dividends… but I doubt Lampard is planning on any senior players coming in, he seems to genuinely be planning to make a Chelsea spine from within the club and that is the way to go IMHO. You can see how United are fucking everything up with trying to buy a spine, they are only gonna get mercenaries to sign up, they are never going to able to buy into the identity of the club like youth players do, or enforce that identity.

My opinion on Giroud (and also on Pedro) whose contract expires in the summer: if we can get some money from them, we have to. We are in the lossesin 2019. Conte’s sacking compensation etc etc. And probably salary. If Inter are willing to pay 10m, we have to take it. We’ll only have 2 striker, so be it. We can play false 9 too as we have abundance of wingers in Pulisic, Willian, CHO. (and probably Thomas Lemar 🙂 ). And we’ll have RLC back.

I still don’t think January is the right moment to buy as it is always difficult. Let’s keep the faith on these youngsters, build a new core of the team with Abraham, Mount, Reece James, Pulisic, CHO and Tomori. All young, 22 or younger, all except Abraham and James have long contract with us. Our future leaders will come from this bunch. I already can see it in Abraham. His motivation, his disappointment when missing a chance, his joy when we score (whoever the scorer is) …

Bingo, January is renowned for being a difficult month to do transfer business in although anticipated I was pleased to hear Frank say today in his press conference anyone we might look to buy must be an improvement on what we’ve got already.

My view is that if we can’t get the players Frank wants in January then we should keep our powder dry until the Summer. I was also pleased to hear Frank say Giroud would only leave if it suits the Club.

Aindro, I don’t think we should worry too much about the losses it was a collision of a number of circumstances that went into those losses inc compensation to Conte, No CL monies and having to get involved in a last minute deal for Kepa because Courtois changed his mind alongside Kepa we also bought Jorginho and Kovacic in that financial period with an unusually low for us sales out

The Hazard money isn’t in these figures and it’s upwards of £80m neither is the Morata money of £58m due in the Summer from Atletico.

There are also players that we can sell in the Summer potentially Christensen, Alonso, Barkley and Michy which would bring in circa £100m.

Also if we spend £300m for instance over two windows that money is amortised over the lengths of the players contracts which means an actual expenditure on the financials of £60m on transfers over 5 years whilst all of the recievables ie Hazard and Morata which will be £140m p!us plus the monies for the players above go straight into the financials.

I suspect the next financial results will look a lot more positive.

Good news for Chelsea fans from @domfifield – Tariq Lamptey has agreed a new deal. More detail in @TheAthleticUK’s transfer tracker. Good news if accurate.

I wouldn’t buy anyone atm… the young guns you got are making a new identity for the fans out there on the pitch… if you buy now you are gonna block someone path to the team and potentially block a better move next summer as well. Your prospects are showing that they are capable of pushing for a slot in the team for the next few years. The right midfielder in the summer would go a long way to getting you back in the title hunt. Even though I doubt anyone is going to surpass this Liverpool side any time soon.

    Wouldn’t disagree with that Bingo.

As for not surpassing Liverpool I would take you back to the Spurs v Liverpool game in 2017 at Wembley and the 4-1 defeat and Liverpool in 9th place to demonstrate how quickly football can turn around with a few top class signings.

Chelsea are a team for the future and some wise buys should only help that come about sooner rather than later.

The Soccer Saturday panel agree that Olivier Giroud would be the ideal replacement for Harry Kane if Tottenham were to make a bid for the Chelsea striker.” Sky Sports.

Hopefully Chelsea aren’t foolish enough to help strengthen a top 4 rival at the same time if they don’t sign a replacement for Giroud weakening their own top 4 challenge.

Any monies received for Giroud even from Inter will be irrelevant by comparison to what can be earned from a CL finish if it weakens the squad and a top 4 place is missed.

Hey nine, the Kovacic money will be for next financials wont it? Loaned him last season, bought him this season. Guess it depends when we paid Madrid the £40 odd million. The lack of CL football seriously impacted our revenue negatively. Agree 100% that we should make a serious profit in June 2020. Especially if we aren’t that active in this months transfer window. A huge concern I have is the growing press noises stating that Kante will be off to Madrid in the summer. Yes we will get over £100m for him but who on earth could we get to replace him? Convert Ampadu to a defensive midfielder? Do we have any top class midfield destroyer youngsters playing in central midfield?

Stuilse, we would have paid for Kovacic prior to July 1st to avoid the transfer ban which started on July 1st so at least a portion of that fee will appear in last year’s financials.

I share your concerns about Kante although unlike with Hazard the Club will be in complete control given the 3 years left on his contract from this Summer worst case scenario is we will get a massive fee for him but as you say where do you find another Kante. Ampadu is a fine prospect but imo it would be asking too much of him to take over the Kante role. Cheers 9’s

Chelsea have wrapped up a deal for Norwegian starlet Bryan Fiabema who becomes the club’s first January signing, with the teenager meeting his new teammates after Saturday’s win over Burnley. The 16-year-old former Tromso talent – who joins the academy rather than the first-team squad – had a trial with the Blues at the end of last year and impressed enough to earn a permanent move.

According to Norwegian outlet VG, he signed a three-and-a-half year contract on Friday morning at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground. He was then invited to watch Saturday’s thumping 3-0 victory over Burnley in a box before being invited down to the dressing room to meet the squad. where Fiabema posed for a photo with Callum Hudson-Odoi, who is represented by the same agency, First Access Sports, while he also got to meet Chelsea boss Frank Lampard.

His contract will turn professional as soon as he turns 17 next month, on February 16, and Chelsea have paid a small compensation fee to Tromso. According to VG, the Norwegian club will receive around £860,000 for Fiabema and will also receive a small percentage of any resale should he leave the club.

On another note reports suggest “Paris Saint-Germain’s search for a tall midfielder is leading to the capital club showing interest in a familiar name, Chelsea FC’s Tiémoué Bakayoko.”

    I thought Christmas was over?😊

Agree with not buying anyone, especially this window! Trust these youngsters. They will make mistakes, they will lose points. But this season is a learning season IMO both for the players and the manager. And I think also for the fans. I feel blessed to be a Chelsea fan since the 90’s, under Hoddle, just before where we started to win trophies regularly under Gullit, Vialli and to compete for the title under later on. And look at how many trophies and league titles since Abramovich. But this has to change. We need to give time to these youngsters to grow and to form the next winning team for Chelsea. I won’t categorize this season as disaster if we don’t win any trophy or if we miss the top 4. Trust Lampard, he would give everything for Chelsea and trust these youngsters.

Disappointed that we have not moved on the window so far. Would apply one of my old bosses sentiments either s@@t or get off the bowel.

If we are not looking then come out and make the statement or if we are, get the deal(s) done.

As for Kante, when was the last time he played regularly in the defensive role.
If we revert to playing him there then yip keep him. If we insist in playing him further forward we have no shortage of attacking midfielders who are as good if not better in that role. £100 mill is not to be sniffed at, especially if Frank can get us into a top 4 finish the we will be a lot more attractive to potential signings in the summer!!

We are linked with Lewis Dunk. I think the price quoted in the rumors 50m is really steep for a 28 years old. It would be silly to spend that much money for an area where we are well covered: centre back. I am still hoping we buy noone this window and keep our cash for summer, where we can splash some money to get Ben Chilwell, a striker (Werner, Dembélé?) and a GK. And probably a winger if Willian doesn’t extend. I start to think that Kepa needs competition.

Chelsea shouldn’t and hopefully won’t get any new players in, in this window.

Any player of Chelsea quality and that we actually need will not be available this window. The only player I may give exception too is Ake. Other than that the squad is good enough to finish top 4 and even catch City and Leicester.

In the summer make the signings that push us into the title Challenge question

bort! I was waiting for you to start the thread for players linked to us like you’ve always done every transfer window before.

personnally I don’t think we can catch City. Leicester, they are good, there are 6 points between us and them. Not easy but not impossible. But City are of different class and for me they should have been competing there for the 1st spot against Liverpool. A bit unlucky this season them, or Liverpool a bit lucky. Either one. I would worry more about Man Utd catching us than us catching Leicester

If Rangers want to borrow Connor Gallagher send him up there I can’t think of anyone better for Gallagher to learn from than Steven Gerrard.

I think Gallagher would be better off on-loan to a championship club looking for getting promotion spot. Like Abraham, Mount before, Harry Wilson of Bournemouth too (on-loan from Liverpool). No point of loaning him to a premiership club where he will sit on the bench most of the times.

We are today linked with Isco. No need IMO as we have Mount, who is younger and hungrier.

Good for him. We now can only hope he will feature regularly for Swansea as they compete for a play-off spot. If so, I think this loan experience will be beneficial for him and for Chelsea. We have Marc Guehi at Swansea too, so let’s hope both players will play regularly and will gain experience there.
