I believe yesterday’s game proves to me that Roy has no idea and it was Zaha who has made him look good. I thought I would give him the benefit of the doubt this year but the last 3 games and definitely the last game proves it. Benteke needs to be rested for a couple of weeks and Ayew or Sorloth need a full game. Meyer should have started and changes should have been made at the 50 minutes mark. No Zaha = no points. Roy you are good at talking but your tactics and team selection is woeful.

It is one thing to play your strongest players and continually but the narrow tactic becomes known and be countered. We seem to be strongest attacking so therefore should not sit back. Having said that when you attack you must score added are not. Agree Benteke must stand down and be a sub if necessary. The Zaha syndrome maybe prove the quality of the rest but it also seems that too many players have off days and perhaps swifter changes are required but is not happening. I really do not know, as an armchair supporter now, but his is supporting Palace, one minute the pundits put us for a 7th place finish but now I’d be grateful for 7 points. I have so many miserable weekends.

I’m not going to push the panic button at this point, yes we were below par, but we created chances in all our games, our inability to convert them is the big issue… I’m not gonna write off Roy too soon, we finished last season with won 4 drew 2 and lost zero … Having both Dann and Tomkins out made us weaker in the back 4.. I like Kelly but he didn’t look great.

Also, the first 4-5 games of the season always there are odd results… sometimes teams take a few games more than others to settle, but it soon settles none the less

I looked at our bench and we have so many good options, I think we have the ability to change things about a bit more… hopefully Roy starts pushing the new players into the fold quicker or as starters.

My one gripe is Benteke, he really truely needs benching for a few games, not just because he isn’t scoring, but on a number of occassions already he is being bundled off the ball, for a big guy he looks lightweight, he has little to no running in him… I like Sorloth because he’s prepared to run, hustle and try, and he also is difficult to shove off the ball.. Hopefully Wickham can get in on the action soon too… I am not sure about Ayew, but with 4 strikers, midfield options aplenty we should be able to pick up and get going..

We are a much stronger team than last year, albeit I think we lack wingers.. this is why we play narrow.. we will need to learn to use what we have to give us width.. But overall I am happy with the squad…. I think we are now 1 decent striker and 2 new wingers away from having a great squad. Hoping we can find some flank options in our youth team, but that said, both PVA and Wann Bisakka do give us width from the back and could be utilised as wingers if needs must
