Well we have to wait and see who is going to be available for this game following the internationals, but we are likely to be without a few, almost certainly Emerson.
Regardless of the eleven we put out though, this is going to be a very tough test. I think Wolves are the worst type of team we can play right now as they are more than capable of shutting us out for 60 mins and then pushing on in last 30 when we will be most vulnerable.
I dont think we will get 3 points but we are capable of it.
Lets see what kind of team Lamps can put out.September 10, 2019 at 4:21 pm #1781741
Admittedly the news on Emerson is disappointing Lucky.
I hope there is better news on Rudiger and Kante which will compensate for that and Alonso can come in and do a capable job too.
We might even see Hudson Odoi on the bench. Fingers crossed on player availability and for a good result before we head into our first CL game v Valencia and then Liverpool at home.September 10, 2019 at 4:28 pm #1781742
Found this site nine
Seems probable Rudiger can play but match fitness is a worry. Hopefully Kante will be recovered after missing internationals and he can play.
Doubts on a few others though but Hudson-odoi could be on the bench according to this site too nine, and that would be nice. Ruben apparently will be october, reece james a good two weeks away.
I wouldnt be too disheartened if we failed to win. I dug Wolves out on another forum for being so horrible to watch against utd but its nonsense to criticise them really, they will be very difficult to beat.
If we win this it will be a great result.September 10, 2019 at 4:42 pm #1781745
Lucky, yeah I agree Wolves play to their strengths and their own system and are always capable of an upset Wolves away is never an easy game especially after an international break.
Rudi has got a couple of U23 games under his belt now and I think he will be ok important we get him and Kante back playing especially with the games we’ve got coming up.
Emerson’s injury is allegedly only minor so hopefully he will be back soon too.
Ruben would be a plus for October imo I was thinking Christmas time.
Once we have everyone up and running we’ll be ok imo. And it will give Frank time to asses a fully fit squad ahead of the ban potentially being lifted in January although January is notoriously a very difficult time to sign the players you really want.September 10, 2019 at 4:43 pm #1781746
I think they have more problems than us with internationals. Their main goalscorer Jimenez is with Mexico national team. If I am not mistaken, Pulisic has been released from the US national team for the match against Uruguay. So he will be back earlier and thus fresher.
My feeling is that Rudiger should start. Emerson will probably be absent due to his injury. Wolves haven’t really had good result this season and I hope we can take advantage of their current form. I think Frank needs a second win, hopefully we’ll win this match even though we play awaySeptember 12, 2019 at 8:19 am #1782056
News that CHO will play in an U23 game on Friday which is sensible suggests he is unlikely to be on the bench on Saturday v Wolves.
Reece James back in training.😊September 12, 2019 at 9:44 am #1782079
Still no signature? In four months he goes for free or am I wrong? Hope I am!!. Wouldn’t that have been another 40 odd million in the warchest?September 12, 2019 at 3:42 pm #1782193
See Billy Gilmour is injured with a groin strain another one of our youngsters, is this to do with our training or is it that the youngsters bodies are in the transitional stage between lad and senior.September 12, 2019 at 4:12 pm #1782202
Possibly devchels it could be down to the development, however I feel there may be more to it.
Rudiger, Kante & RLC would not fall into that category (CHO would) and all have picked up non contact injuries at tghe tail end of last season.
I seem to remember that at the start of last season a lot was being made of the fact that Sarri had eased off on the training regime that Conte had introduced …… has that contributed to the end of season blight ….. who knows!!
There was critiscm levelled at Sarri after match days from all quarters about having underestimated the pace and physicality of the Prem, so I would suggest if he has underestimated these things during games he will have followed suit in the preparations, and the problem then is you are playing catch up for the rest of the season!
I think then that Frank has stepped up the intensity again, so it will be interesting to see how we finish the season on the injury front.
With the likes of young Gilmour it may well be a case of him pushing himself too hard due to havimng the carrot of 1st team football at both Club and International level being dangled, a case of over eagerness!September 12, 2019 at 5:11 pm #1782215
NIBLUE with a lot of new coaching staff and physios it could take a little while for the back room team to come together, as you say it will be interesting to see how we finish the season and how many more injuries we sustainSeptember 12, 2019 at 6:34 pm #1782236
I think all these injuries are strange as they mostly very young players still, speaking for myself I only really started suffering injuries like, hamstrings, calfs and achilles when I was around 33. And it was always heavy training as well. Wonder if they take vitamin supplements cause it does help with certain physical defiencies that they may have.September 13, 2019 at 12:47 pm #1782412
No Kante still not quite there according to Frank. Kovacic fit so is Rudiger CHO and Reece James to play for the 23’s tonight still some issues with CHO according to Frank? And Reece James needs game time.September 13, 2019 at 2:19 pm #1782447
At least Rudiger is fit. I think he will be a big help in the defense. Who will partner him: Christensen or Zouma? I would love to see Tomori again, I think the combination of Tomori – Rudiger would work well for us.
Don’t quite understand with the state of Kanté. We’ve heard the word ‘close’ so often but he hasn’t really returned yet this season. He was injured after Europa final (knee?). He’s been back for a match and now injured again (ankle?). Did we make a mistake by rushing him. Or are Chelsea not honest enough to admit that his injury is more serious than we thought as he was seriously over-used last season?
TT (Marshy) predicted a Wolves win. I am not too optimistic as we play away and as a team we haven’t been consistent yet. But I hope that we will finish the match with a much needed win. We need a win for confidence, for morale boost before we start UCL campaign.September 13, 2019 at 2:36 pm #1782452
Kante out is imo a massive blow but then we cannot depend on one or two players forever.September 13, 2019 at 2:47 pm #1782455
My team considering the injuries
Azpi Tomori Rudiger Emerson(seems he will be ok but obviously alonso if not)
Mount Jorginho Barkley
Willian Abraham Pulisic
I am not sure if it is worth risking Kovacic but defo worth playing rudiger despite the lack of match fitness.September 13, 2019 at 3:10 pm #1782465
Think Kovacic has to play with no Kante. Pedro is fit too. Some tough choices for Frank with Valencia on Tuesday and Liverpool next Sunday. There will have to be some rotation.September 13, 2019 at 3:27 pm #1782473
It looks as though Kante out for Valencia too nine and thats why I was thinking of protecting kovacic in this one. Ideally he could play in both but he couldnt complete 90 mins against sheffield so 2 games in 4 days might be too much.
Either way if we play with 2 proper wingers in pulisic and willian/pedro, I would like to see Mount given licence to play closer to tammy, whether its barkley or kovacic that completes the midfield with jorginho I would like to see them a bit deeper to leave us less vulnerable in transition.September 13, 2019 at 7:49 pm #1782514
Agree that Kovacic has to play. Jorginho cannot defend alone. And if Emerson cannot play, we know how weak Alonso’s defending. We are leaking so many goals and we badly need a good result in the league, so I think there’s no point to save anybody for Valencia. Every player has to give his best this weekend. Let’s think about Valencia after the match against Wolves.
My team: Kepa – Azpi,Rudiger,Tomori,Alonso – Jorginho, Kovacic – Mount, Barkley, Pedro – AbrahamSeptember 14, 2019 at 10:27 am #1782552
I’m hearing that Pedro and maybe Pulsic could also be out, it’s been real tough for a new young manager with all these injuries plus the transfer ban.September 14, 2019 at 2:32 pm #1782628
How on heaven’s sake has Willian Started up top alongside Abraham whe we know his end product? Lampard seems to have listened Mourinho’s advice there. i’m afraid to say we will be playing with 10 men there.
