It was decent enough Sympathy. We looked in control for large parts. Missed a couple of good chances. Lots of neat passing, VDB looked good in the 6 role. Nice and tidy and played going forwards. Linked up well with the wingers to get them going.

Tuanzebe and Bailly both did well, as did the whole team in fairness apart from James. James put a great first time ball in for the first goal but other than that he mostly made simple mistakes.

    Promising performances from the youngsters.

Be interesting to see who gets the nod next to Lindelof on Wednesday.

Cheers for that Alfie! Appreciate it!

I guess Bailly will most likely get the nod since he signed a new contract… wonder how he’ll feel playing against his former side.

I’m definitely worried going into the final – Villareal have looked excellent in the last few weeks overall.

If I had to assume, the line-up would be:

    De Gea
    AWB – Bailly – Lindelof – Shaw
    McTominay – Fred
    Rashford – Fernandes – Pogba
    Cavani

Villareal blew it in the second half against the, I think we can all agree, most average Real Madrid team in a long time.
I think Tuanzebe should get the nod over Bailly but, as stated, Bailly just signed a new contract. We’ve had two relatively solid defensive performances in the last two matches and the common factor was neither Lindeloaf or Bailly but Tuanzebe. Even a blind man could see it ffs but sure as shit neither Ole, Phelan, Carrick nor McKenna will see it.
If we could offer Bailly to Villareal in p/x for Torres I think that would be a fantastic piece of business.
It was good to see that the young players came in and played well and had no fear. You can see the academy system is doing what it’s supposed to when these guys can just slot into the first team with no great effort to get accustomed to tactics etc.
Dan James definitely isn’t good enough to stay, he shows flashes of quality but can’t produce them consistently, Crystal Palace could do worse than buy him now that they’re losing a load of players this summer. Good player, knows the league and they’re about his level.
