To be clear on Woodward – he was very good on the Marketing / Financial side but that alone does not make a good chairman for a football club: you need to have a good knowledge of the football side of things (including transfers, structure, etc.) and, unfortunately, he was utterly incompetent in that side of the business.
If the Glazers had any sense they would have never promoted him to Chairman and would’ve let someone with good experience in the area come in and take the chairman role and let Woodward continue to run the Marketing and Finance side (mind you, if Woodward would be willing to be demoted back to a purely financial role, I have no issue with him being at the club).
Like @Wonderfuel Gas correctly noted: the Glazers are the main problem here.
