Much to be pleased about with this new team. Plenty of energy, plenty of pace and possession, generally well organised and in most positions skillful enough but sadly almost devoid of goal power. Unless Charlie can stay fit and keep producing rabbits from the hat there will be many results like this one ahead as we are unlikely to be gifted freak and own goals every week.
The money spent on Zohore is hard to understand. A very gifted youth player but with a poor senior history save for one short period with Cardiff and a price tag of say £2m might be worth a punt but £8m? I truly hope he comes good but it doesn’t look too likely right now.
I understand the reasons for not playing any of the last minute signings but the bench options were woeful and one or two of them might just have made a difference? Expect them to appear in the rematch on Wednesday when it matters less.
Left the ground feeling disappointed and not helped by discovering Leko had put one in the net for Charlton! Turned out to be wrong! Keep the faith.

DH54WBA i agree with you that it is good to see youngsters in our team again, but at the moment we have no goalscorer on top.We miss Gayle and yesterday he was not playing not even on the bench for Newcastle, god i want him back, than we could talked about promotion.Look to me that Zohoore is not good enough, but i will give him some time, but 8mill was poor judgement from ALBION.I guess we will see all of our new signings tomorrow in the cup and Austin will be on top, hope he will stay fit,i look forward to see Pereira too.Norway baggie

I am on record as stating that Bilic is a nutcase. But the one positive attribute that he does have is emotion. So i don’t think that he will put up with a toothless offence for long, or dither like some of our recent managers.

It could all end in tears, but I can assure you it won’t be for lack of trying or inventiveness, when it comes to our man, Slaven.

Give it time with Zohore. Cardiff fans reckon that at £8 million we virtually stole him. And we’ve got Sawyers and Austin unbelievably cheaply. I think we should now forget about Gayle – at least until January. We have to live with what we’ve got and it should be enough. If Austin clicks and with Hegazi back in late September, going into the Autumn we should have a promotion-winning squad and team. I think Luke and Slaven should be congratulated on their excellent work during the transfer window.
