Piotr Zielinski transfer news: West Ham expected to offer again as players demands are revealed

Piotr Zielinski of Napoli celebrates scoring a goal

Napoli reportedly expect West Ham to return with an improved offer for midfielder Piotr Zielinski this summer.

The Poland international is an integral part of the Napoli squad. He made 35 league appearances last season, scoring six and assisting a further five. Now, West Ham are looking to tempt the attacking-minded midfielder away as they look to improve their squad options.

That’s according to Il Matino, who claim that West Ham have made an offer of around €40m for Zielinski. The report also adds that the player is looking for around £5.5m a year on a four-year contract.

It is believed the player has rejected a move to the Hammers on numerous occasions already this summer. The reason for this is that David Moyes’ side have failed to match the valuation he believes he deserves.

However, the report states that as far as Napoli are concerned, they cannot reject an offer that West Ham are offering. Therefore, the last remaining hurdle is convincing Zielinski to make the switch.

The 28-year-old is expected to be allowed to leave this summer. The Naples club will use the money they receive for his potential transfer to improve their own squad depth.

But whether West Ham can tempt him to make the move is another question.

The report states there has been a long ‘telephone meeting’ in which Zielinski’s agents have been pushed to say yes to the West Ham deal.

Piotr Zielinski will work well under David Moyes

Should Zielinski make the switch, he would add some strong competition to the attackers behind the lone striker.

Under Moyes’ 4-2-3-1 formation, the same way Napoli lined up last season, Manuel Lanzini was the main option as the central attacking midfielder.

Zielinski would offer great competition for Lanzini, and also offer good rotation during the hectic playing periods.

His experience in both domestic and Champions League football would be a great use to the club. And if they can get him playing his best football, he will certainly help them push for a European spot.

Ultimately, it now seems like the decision lies with West Ham. If they really want him, they must pay the salaries he demands.

This recent update suggests Napoli will not stand in the way of the potential transfer.
