Marc Guiu is set to be one of three strikers leaving Chelsea this summer and TEAMtalk understands that Manchester City have explored a move for the young forward, with former boss Enzo Maresca a keen admirer of the Spaniard.

Manchester City are preparing to sanction the departure of Omar Marmoush to Tottenham Hotspur, leaving them increasingly short of options in attack. That has prompted them to assess Guiu as a potential solution.

Guiu is one of a number of Chelsea players City are monitoring heading into the final week of the window. Sources have already confirmed their interest in Enzo Fernandez and Malo Gusto, with the three players now among those being assessed by the Premier League champions.

Guiu worked well under Maresca at Chelsea, and we understand that relationship is one reason City have explored the move.

There is also a belief within the club that the 20-year-old could develop into a successful understudy to Erling Haaland, giving City another young option capable of providing depth in the central striker role.

The 20-year-old has a number of alternatives, however, and we can reveal that Napoli have also made contact, while RB Leipzig have also looked at the possibility of bringing him in as they assess their own attacking options.

Chelsea ready to let three strikers leave before window shuts

Chelsea are looking to significantly trim their squad before the deadline, and Guiu is expected to be one of three strikers leaving Stamford Bridge, alongside Nicolas Jackson and Liam Delap.

Guiu joined Chelsea from Barcelona for around £5million in 2024, but has struggled for regular minutes and is now valued at around £25million.

The La Masia graduate is not part of new head coach Xabi Alonso’s first-team plans and was not allocated a squad number ahead of Chelsea’s opening Premier League game against Fulham on Monday.

That has made his departure increasingly likely, with Chelsea prepared to listen to offers as Alonso finalises his attacking options.

For Guiu, the next few days will therefore be crucial, with Manchester City now another potential destination alongside clubs in Italy and Germany.

With regard to Jackson, his chief suitors, Aston Villa, now face competition from one of LaLiga’s biggest clubs, after they saw an initial loan offer rejected.

As for Delap, sources can reveal the club now seen as favourites to sign him, with Everton, Newcastle, Nottingham Forest and Leeds all in the hunt.
