Manchester United could bust a potential deal wide open by striking an agreement of their own, with a report revealing the first act in a transfer will unfold this weekend.
The transfer headlines around Man Utd this summer will be dominated by what happens in midfield. Two high profile midfielders will arrive to offset Casemiro leaving via free agency and Manuel Ugarte’s increasingly likely sale.
However, United fans should not sleep on other areas of their side’s squad, with additions at centre-back and left wing also being sought.
Today’s update regards the centre-back move, with Italian outlet, TuttoMercatoWeb, bringing news from Turin.
It’s claimed France international defender, Pierre Kalulu, is in line to earn a new and improved contract from Juventus, such has been his exemplary displays under a series of different managers over the past two seasons.
Kalulu is contracted until 2029 already, but Juve want to reward the 25-year-old with a new deal that would improve his salary and add another 12 months on.
But that’s where Man Utd enter the equation, with TMW suggesting the Red Devils could torpedo Juve’s plans by bringing Kalulu to England.
The report read: ‘His good performances, however, haven’t gone unnoticed around Europe. So much so that Manchester United has him in their sights for next season.’
It was then revealed Man Utd will take their first step towards a transfer this weekend by scouting the player in person.

Man Utd will scout Pierre Kalulu on Sunday
Kalulu’s Juventus square off against top tier opposition on Sunday night when facing AC Milan at the San Siro.
It’s a crunch clash for Juve who could jump ahead of Milan and into third with a win. A loss would leave Juventus looking over their shoulder at Como and Roma and leave the Turin side with work to do to retain fourth spot and secure Champions League qualification.
TMW added: ‘A Red Devils representative will be present at this weekend’s Milan-Juventus match’.
Regarding the potential cost of signing Kalulu, no firm figures were cited in the piece.
Nevertheless, you can rest assured a transfer would now cost a heck of a lot more than the modest €14m Juventus paid when turning Kalulu’s loan from Milan permanent last summer.
