Breakthrough for Man Utd as deal ‘agreed in principle’ for €17m target

Manchester United have found a breakthrough in negotiations for Alex Telles and could conclude a deal before the transfer deadline.
United have been chasing Telles for several weeks as they look to strengthen their options at left-back.
The Porto defender has emerged as their top target for the position, but there were concerns that they would not be able to meet the asking price.
However, various sources, including the BBC, Fabrizio Romano and Sky Sports, now indicate that a deal has been agreed for United to take the Brazilian.
The Red Devils have now entered advanced talks for Telles, who could join them for a fee in the region of €17m.
Porto had been holding out for more money, but United refused to raise their offer due to the player being out of contract in a year. It now appears the Portuguese side have buckled and will accept United’s lower offer.
United have only signed Donny van de Beek during this transfer window, but are now confident of adding Telles before the deadline.
The left-back will have to undergo a medical before completing his move.
Cavani also close to joining Man Utd
Edinson Cavani is also a major target for United, who are looking to strengthen their attack. The Uruguayan striker is a free agent after leaving Paris Saint-Germain.
Cavani is now likely to sign a two-year contract at Old Trafford to give Solskjaer another option up front.
United chiefs were slightly concerned about his wage demands, but it appears he too could soon sign up to join them.
Cavani could undergo a medical on Sunday evening ahead of his proposed move.
