Thibaut Courtois puts an end to summer transfer speculation

Thibaut Courtois has ended the speculation about his future and claimed he will be at Chelsea next season.

The Belgian stopper has been heavily linked with Real Madrid and earlier in the season claimed his future comments were misunderstood.

“I’m not clear about my future, what I said that my heart is in Madrid was misunderstood,” said Courtois last month.

Courtois has two children living in Madrid and has previously opened the door on a return to the Spanish capital after joining Chelsea from Atletico Madrid in 2011.

But the 25-year-old has ruled out leaving Stamford Bridge this summer.

“I have one year left on my contract and I feel good at Chelsea, and at the end of the season we’ll sit down together and talk about the future,” he told Sporza.

“I feel at ease, knowing that I will still be at Chelsea next year.

“If I go to the World Cup with a clear idea, sign or wait another year, my mind will be clear at the World Cup. I am still proud to play for Chelsea and I want to achieve success.”

Courtois, who has returned to Chelsea from international duty with Belgium for treatment on a hamstring problem, is expected to be fit for Sunday’s Premier League match against Tottenham.
