Euro Paper Talk: Dembele deal not dead as Man Utd give star future promise

Ousmane Dembele

Manchester United plan to come back in for Ousmane Dembele in January if a certain condition is met, while talks between Tottenham and a prolific striker have been revealed, according to Tuesday’s Euro Paper Talk.

Manchester United could yet come back in for Ousmane Dembele in January, according to sections of the Spanish media.

The Red Devils attempted to recruit the winger on deadline day after failing to convince Borussia Dortmund to sell Jadon Sancho.

United only offered to sign Dembele on loan, and it was that lack of a guarantee at a permanent stay that saw the winger rebuff United’s bid.

As per Mundo Deportivo, the France winger did not accept their proposal to join on a temporary stint. That’s despite the player, according to the report, being well aware he’s no longer first choice at Barca.

However, all is not lost for either Dembele or United.

In fact, both Mundo Deportivo and Sport suggests a January transfer could yet be resurrected.

They state Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will come back in for Dembele if he proves his fitness and gets minutes under Ronald Koeman in the meantime.

Furthermore, it’s claimed United did not want to gamble on a permanent deal now given his injury record. But a return to form and fitness in the coming months could lead to a more firm proposal.

The failure of Dembele to move also frustrated Barcelona. Their boss Ronald Koeman needed the former Borussia Dortmund man to move on in order to sanction a deal for Memphis Depay.

Despite Depay being on offer for just €12.5m, Barca were only able to bring him in were Dembele to accept his move to Old Trafford.

Bizarrely, Sport also claim Barcelona tried to offer Dembele a new deal prior to any loan move to United. It’s claimed that though was designed purely to maximise any future profit on the winger.
