Tottenham closing on blockbuster £127m double deal after getting playmaker green light

Thomas Frank could be closing in on a huge Tottenham double deal
Tottenham Hotspur look to be closing on a spectacular double deal before the closure of the summer transfer window on September 1 after launching another offer for Savinho, while they are also reportedly closing in on a new playmaker.
It’s been a frustarting window in terms of Thomas Frank landing his top targets, with agreed deals for Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze both falling through late in the process, although the start of the season has certainly delivered plenty of promise.
Tottenham have won both their opening Premier League games under Thomas Frank, including a hugely impressive victory at Manchester City over the weekend – a game in which summer arrivals Joao Palinha and Mohammed Kudus both excelled.
However, the Spurs boss has admitted that the club are still in the market for new additions to the squad, with a No.10, a left winger and potentially another centre-back all on their radar.
TEAMtalk has revealed that Tottenham are closing in on the signing of Savinho from Manchester City, with a bid of ver £70million being prepared for the Brazilian. The Etihad outfit are, however, pushing for a fee for closer to £80m for a player Pep Guardiola is reluctant to lose.
But they could actually be on the brink of a blockbuster double attacking signing after learning that Monaco are willing to do business for another of their top targets.
Spurs have been tracking the progress of playmaker Maghnes Akliouche for some time, with the 23-year-old France Under-21 international capable of playing out wide or centrally in an attacking midfield role.
Football Insider‘s Pete O’Rourke has revealed that the French side will accept an offer of around £47.5million for Akliouche, with Tottenham accelerating their efforts to get the talented Frenchman on board.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, O’Rourke said: “The one that seems to be catching their eye is the Monaco star, Maghnes Akliouche.
“He’s a very talented young player, and could be available for around £47.5million.
“He’s a top young player, 23 years old, probably one of the most exciting young talents in Ligue 1 right now – he can play as a winger, or as a number 10 as well.”

Where would Akliouche fit in at Tottenham?
There is every chance that Akliouche would initially be a deputy to Kudus on the right wing while he adjusts to English football, having largely played in that role for Monaco last season.
Akliouche scored seven goals and provided 12 assists in 42 games last season and oozes quality in possession, with the ability to beat players with ease.
He is naturally left-footed but enjoys cutting in on his right, as appears to be the case for so many inverted wide men these days.
However, there is a feeling that he will eventually move into the No.10 role, given his ability to play with both feet and his eye for a pass.
And, while Tottenham may have to wait for Akliouche to eventually become a regular in that position, he would be a tremendous addition to a squad that still lacks some creativity after James Maddison’s injury, while Dejan Kulusevski could be out until the turn of the year.
Indeed, adding Savinho and Akliouche could go some way to making up for the disappointment of missing out on Gibbs-White and Eze and make the summer window a hugely productive one for the club.
