The deadline is approaching for Manchester United to make a move for a star Lazio midfielder, according to a report.
Serbia international Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has been repeatedly linked with a Serie A exit this summer following an impressive performance at the 2018 World Cup and a stellar season in Italy.
Milinkovic-Savic did hint following Serbia’s exit from the World Cup that he would be happy to remain in Rome, but that hasn’t stopped rumours linking him with Chelsea, United, PSG, Real Madrid and Juventus.
Il Messaggero claimed last week that the Red Devils have held talks with Lazio over a transfer for Milinkovic-Savic with a possible deal amounting to over £100million.
However, Calciomercato.com reports that interest in the 23-year-old has begun to fade out due to the €150m price tag imposed by Lazio president Claudio Lotito.
Juventus have already brought in Cristiano Ronaldo, and it appears their focus may have turned to bringing in Paul Pogba from Man Utd.
Real Madrid seem to be focusing their efforts on replacing Cristiano, with Eden Hazard linked, while Barcelona want Juve’s Miralem Pjanic.
Calciomercato’s report states that Lotito has set a deadline of August 1 for his summer business, meaning he would “shut up shop” should no deal be struck before then.
