Arsenal in talks for sensational double deal as bargain prices come to light

Fabian Ruiz, Nico Gonzalez, Barcelona v Napoli in Europa League

Arsenal are reported to have opened talks over the capture of Fabian Ruiz – and the Napoli man could be on the move for a bargain fee this summer.

The Gunners endured a frustrating January window with talks over a couple of transfers ultimately counting for nothing. Having seen efforts to land Dusan Vlahovic ultimately fail, the Gunners failed to add to their strikeforce. It was a similar hard luck story in midfield too after talks for Arthur Melo proved unfruitful.

Indeed, a disagreement over the length of the Brazilian’s loan spell ultimately laid waste to that deal.

The Gunners though are working hard to put both those disappointments behind them.

And reports in the Sunday Mirror claims an exciting deal for Fabian could be on the cards.

Indeed, they claim Gunners officials have already held talks with agents of the 25-year-old midfielder to determine his wage demands.

The player will have just a year left on his deal come the summer with talks over an extension failing to see an agreement reached. As such, Napoli will likely have little choice but to sell the star for a knockdown fee.

Rated as one of the best midfielders in Serie A, the Mirror claims Napoli may be seeking as little as £16m, plus bonuses, for Fabian Ruiz.

That fee is well within Arsenal’s reach and they could offer the player a tempting financial package to tempt him to north London.

Newcastle are also in the mix, with reports claiming they too are looking to pinch the ‘Gold of Naples’.

However, it appears Arsenal are in the driving seat, having already met with Ruiz’s representatives.

The Spain midfielder is a classy operator and has five goals and four assists in 25 appearances this season.

Arsenal also hopeful over Alvaro Morata

The Gunners are also increasingly hopeful of striking a deal for Alvaro Morata.

Should any PL team risk Morata

Should any PL team risk Morata

Morata would either be on a redemption tour or would be Chelsea Morata 2.0.

Morata is one of the many strikers Arsenal are considering to take their attack into a new era in the summer. If Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah leave as free agents as expected, they will need to plug the gap.

A lack of depth would not be ideal, so they are aiming to make a signing up front. They could yet move winger Gabriel Martinelli to a central position, but still could benefit by entering the market.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Arsenal are admirers of Morata. Indeed, they could try to hijack his transfer to Juventus.

The Serie A side can make the move permanent for a fee of €35m. Atletico are willing to sell since they have no place in their own plans for the Spaniard.

However, given a recent decline in form, Juventus are not keen on paying the full value of Morata’s clause. With Vlahovic now their main man, their plans for the ex-Chelsea man are changing.

They would still like to keep him around, but only as a backup. And they would only want to commit to a transfer fee that represents that.

There are doubts as to whether Atleti would accept, though. Arsenal are still in contention for the permanent Morata transfer and are ready to make a better offer.
