Jose Mourinho has denied reports that he called out four of his Manchester United players for displaying a lack of maturity.

Reports emerged on Friday that Mourinho named Luke Shaw, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard when talking about immaturity and a lack of character during an interview with Spanish TV channel Univision.

When asked what his young players at Old Trafford are lacking, Mourinho apparently said: “They are lacking maturity.

“And let me be clear when I say maturity, I mean maturity on a personal level.”

However, he took the opportunity to settle the issue during his press conference ahead of United’s game against Crystal Palace, insisting the quotes were taken ‘out of context’.

“I don’t play your game,” he told reporters.

“I don’t play the game of the take out of context and do what you want I don’t play your game and I have nothing to say I don’t lose my time. Next question this side please.”

Mourinho then discussed the impact of the Old Trafford crowd on his team: “The supporters cannot do more than what they are doing, we went through a difficult period of results and the supporters were fantastic.

“They support them team and in some matches even push the team for different levels of where we were at the time and we cannot ask more from them. It’s us to give them and make them to go to an even better level, is for us.”
