Sources: Genuine Liverpool attempt to sign Real Madrid superstar revealed after Chelsea, Man City enquiries for Fede Valverde

Real Madrid midfielder Fede Valverde

Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool have all made real attempts to try and land Real Madrid star Fede Valverde this summer, TEAMtalk understands.

The Uruguayan sensation can play anywhere across the forward line or midfield and has proven to be a key part of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad in recent years.

However, following the arrival of Jude Bellingham, in what could prove to be a club-record for deal for Madrid, some clubs wanted to check on Valverde’s situation.

After all, Bellingham has added further quality to a midfield department that also already consists of Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga for the long term, in addition to Valverde.

TEAMtalk understands that City, Chelsea and Liverpool all made enquiries with Madrid and representatives close to the player – but the message was clear that Valverde is not looking to move and Real are not looking to sell.

The former Penarol prospect’s contract at the Bernabeu is still due to last until 2027. Valverde has made 204 appearances for Madrid across his career, including 56 this season. It was the best goalscoring campaign of his career, as he netted 12 of the 18 goals he has ever got for Real.

Earlier this month, Valverde denied he would be looking to leave the club this summer.

He told ESPN Argentina: “No, no, no, I’m at Real Madrid, trying to enjoy every moment and to continue leaving my mark on this team, which is the best in the world.

“I want to keep winning titles for the fans.”

Fede Valverde ready to continue Real Madrid journey

Valverde has won La Liga twice with Los Blancos and the Champions League once. This season, he added a winner’s medal from the Copa del Rey to his cabinet. He has also won the Supercopa de Espana and the FIFA Club World Cup twice each, and the UEFA Super Cup once.

This season, his gametime was split almost equally between a central midfield role and one on the right wing. Therefore, there would have been various ways he could have been useful to any of his three admirers in the Premier League.

All of them could reconstruct their midfields to some degree this summer. For instance, Liverpool have already offloaded James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, before bringing in Alexis Mac Allister.

Meanwhile, Man City captain Ilkay Gundogan is approaching the end of his contract. Coincidentally, one of the players in line to either replace or join him at the Etihad Stadium is Chelsea’s Mateo Kovacic.

In addition to Kovacic, Chelsea have been tipped to say goodbye to N’Golo Kante and Mason Mount from their midfield this summer, among others.
