Ben White is attracting interest from abroad as well as in the Premier League, as Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly in the race to sign him.
White has established himself in the Premier League this season with Brighton. He helped Leeds United win promotion to the top flight last season but couldn’t stay with them permanently. Instead, he returned to his parent club and has established himself in the first team.
A number of top clubs have been watching White for some time. For example, Manchester United have been linked as they look for the perfect partner to Harry Maguire.
According to The Sun, Man Utd remain interested, as do Arsenal. But there is also interest from further afield, with Dortmund the latest to join the queue.
The German giants have shown a desire to take top English talent in recent years. Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham are important members of their squad.
Now they are also eyeing White as they look to strengthen at the back.
He is not the first English defender they have looked at to fulfil that requirement. Last summer, they considered a move for Ben Godfrey, before he went to Everton from Norwich instead.
Now, they have turned their attention to White, who is valued at around £35m by Brighton.
April 30 Transfer Chatter: Sterling rift at City, Dortmund following another Englishman and Liverpool move ahead of Barcelona in forward hunt.
Raheem Sterling 'seething' in midweek with Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund chase another young English talent and Liverpool in for a Dutch forward all in today's transfer chatter.
As well as the prospect of earning a big move, White is also in contention to join the senior England setup. Gareth Southgate has been following his progress and The Sun add that he could call him up for the World Cup qualifiers in the Autumn.
Which club he will be playing for by then remains to be seen.
Klopp ‘hugely impressed’ by White
Back in February, Liverpool were mentioned as another contender for White’s signature.
At the time, Football Insider claimed Jurgen Klopp had been impressed by White’s performance when Liverpool played Brighton. As such, he could make a move to sign him.
The Reds have been linked with White for a long time, having reportedly scouted him while he was on loan at Leeds.
They appear to have liked what they have seen from him in the Premier League, but their attention may have turned to other targets recently.
In that case, four suitors seemingly remain for White and there could be a battle for his services in the summer.
