Rashford set to start tonight for England against Slovakia

Gareth Southgate is set to start Man Utd youngster Marcus Rashford in Monday night’s World Cup qualifier against Slovakia.

Rashford, 19, was impressive as a second-half sub in Friday’s 4-0 win over Malta and he is set to be rewarded with only his second senior start for the Three Lions, according to the Daily Mail.

Speaking on Sunday, Gareth Southgate hinted at a possible start for Rashford, saying: “We really like his [Rashford] mentality so we wouldn’t hesitate to start him.”

The news leaves Man City forward Raheem Sterling – who was substituted in place of Rashford at half-time in Malta – and Liverpool new boy Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain sweating on their places in the starting XI.

England (probable): Hart; Walker, Jones, Cahill, Bertrand; Henderson, Dier; Oxlade-Chamberlain, Alli, Rashford; Kane.
